Used to be a good place to work until WageWorks acquired them

Pros

My team had a great leader that really cared but whose hands were tied to do the right thing most of the time. But that didn't stop them from trying. My coworkers were awesome - truly a team that helped each other try to figure out the mess that was created by the acquisition. Great benefits and PTO policies.

Cons

Upper management doesn't listen. You have to fight for your commissions - every month something was missing so if you didn't keep track you missed out. They say HQY acquired WW but it was clearly the complete opposite - they laid off a lot of HQY employees and kept ones from WW that didn't know what they were doing - and didn't care to learn (not in my department). Pay was mediocre at best. As a former employee and a shareholder I was shocked to hear CEO Jon Kessler on the 3/2022 earnings call say that ALL salaried employees got a raise. I still have a LOT of friends that work there so I asked them. That was a complete fabrication. Not one of them in my old department got a raise and they are all salaried. BTW - inflation hits everyone, not just non-sales people. They kept acquiring company after company. Before one integration was done they had acquired two more. Everyone had a different answer on integration timelines and no one was able to provide clear direction. The contracting process was a nightmare - having to go back and forth with legal for things that should have been their responsibility. The COO is a tool that eyeballs women like they are pieces of meat. Huge communication gap all across the company. DEI is a joke - just look at their executive team.

Thanks for your candid review, we are glad you felt like your co-workers and leader were supportive, and we hope you had a chance to build some meaningful relationships while working at HealthEquity. HealthEquity has changed a lot over the past few years; as we work to scale and grow, we're learning and adjusting to fit our goal of a remarkable purple culture. We hope you took the opportunity to talk to your leaders and our People Team prior to your departure. What you have to say is important; we will escalate your feedback to our leadership teams.

Pros

I absolutely love the team that I am on. I think if the culture of my team shifted I would be out as quick as I can. In a way the team I'm on has felt shielded from many of the changes at the company.

Cons

The company's culture has shifted drastically after acquiring WageWorks and many of their middle managers ended up holding their positions after the merger. The company says we're one company, but former WageWorks leadership does not see it that way. The CEO has also failed to answer as to why the company's salary package is not adjusting to inflation. In the midst of an investor call he dodged a question from an investor about this topic. This has seriously planted a seed that management is not concerned about this and they're not going to assist with skyrocketing inflation.

Pros

Absolutely nothing is a pro with this disaster of a company. If you are looking for a long term company with ethics, culture, job security, growth - this is not the place. Unfortunate I have to give one star because if I could give a billion negative I would.

Cons

- Vast majority of employees leaving both voluntary/involuntary - Terrible pay - Terrible management - No room for growth - Benefits are lousy - Everything is urgent and its your fault for everything - No accountability from supervisors/managers - HR team is completely worthless when presenting an issue - Their "purple" culture is complete nonsense and is not lived by with anyone in the company.
