Great mission but toxic leadership

Pros

The initial training, the kids, and the mission are great. The benefits are great too. This is a good place to go if you're trying to break into this field.

Cons

Management gets really toxic. My group had about a 60% attrition rate in the first 6 weeks. There are unclear expectations. When employees who have been there longer bend or break the rules, the new hires get in trouble for it Some supervisors are "trigger happy" with write-ups, which adds even more stress to the multiple written evaluations we undergo every week. Even if there is absolutely NO work to do, don't be surprised if they won't let you go home or work remotely. They want you in that seat for the whole week, even when the kids have gone home for the day. Many coworkers were doing absolutely nothing once the kids were gone and our reports were finished, but they were stuck there. Pay is low.

Toxic Leadership

Pros

*The kids are so great to be around *Good stepping stone after College

Cons

*The leadership in the MLN department is very cliquey. They are a group of late 20s mean girls that seem to not have an identity outside of the workplace. *If a supervisor doesn’t like you they will take away opportunities and responsibilities from you which can affect your chances of getting a promotion *They gossip about other employees and get trigger happy with write-ups, and getting employees in trouble. * The admin will snitch and gossip if there is an issue instead of having a professional discussion with you directly. *They gossip about students and their parents *Supervisors swear and use very casual language with their employees but expect you to stay professional with them. *The pay is AWFUL. Unless your an admin you pretty much can’t afford to live on your own.
