CNST has my back

Pros

CNST is different from other sites such as Care.com because they provide a personal, customizable, flexible work environment. As a nanny, sometimes I've been put in situations where I didn't feel like the right fit for a kid. Before I was employed by College Nannies/Tutors, this feeling would've put me out of a job. However, with a good manager, I am able to have honest conversations, and if needed, get assigned a new placement.

Cons

Orientation can be a bit lengthy and training videos are required, but honestly not bad at all.

Pros

Business has potential to make a big difference in its surrounding communities. This business is a franchises as it is locally owned and operated. You experience first hand the fruits of your hard work - positive impact on the community by hiring quality and qualified college students to be nannies and tutors and also the ability to give them jobs while also providing families with reliable, compassionate caregivers/tutors and constant customer care. Working with college students and families are the easiest and most fulfilling parts of this job when you're in a "manager/coordinator" position, HOWEVER...

Cons

None of the pros - in the end - are worth it because Franchise owners do whatever they want and refuse to follow best practices and protocols from College Nannies and Tutors "Development" aka "corporate HQ" in MN: - deliberate and illegal withholding of pay checks - deliberately withholding ability to check pays stubs -"forgetting" and failing to pay employees on time so nannies would call panicking they did not get paid. - absolutely not training. You literally are given and binder and told to read it on your free time so you are familiar and understand the processes and procedures - some of which the franchise owner does not even follow in the first place. Owner has no idea how to train and seems to know nothing about the different roles as she just goes over job descriptions with you by reading it to you. - constantly directed by owner to txt blast nannies and call at all hours of the day to take last minute cases - most cases very far away without any incentive and never reimbursing gas and mileage which is legally due to the employee. - ridiculous expectations all around - impossible sales goals, price gouging families/clients, paying employees absolute minimum. - expecting employees to work on-call during the holidays - while owner is on vacation - WITHOUT PAY unless you produce sales. - franchise owners use threats of legal action that are completely unfounded. - I could go on forever. Re: CNT Development - they will always take the owner's side - there is no HR department you can call when you are being mistreated, take advantage of, etc. - when you call seeking someone to talk to at Development, for anything - to report malpractice, to ask for more training - no one gets back to you. If you harass them enough finally someone may talk to you but they are clearly trying to cover their own butt and the franchise owner's butt - really not concerned about you. - unavailable, unhelpful and does not hold franchises accountable at all. Malpractice and illegal activity should be reported and rectified in a timely and professional manner but it is clearly swept under the rug at this company. If the franchises were audited, I am certain some would close due to their malpractices as well as mistreatment of employees. - literally no support or consideration to employees at franchises as franchise owners are "free to run their business as they so choose" - constant state of turnover - people fired and replaced on the same day. No notice given before terminations and no reasons. Unstable work environment.

Terrible, Strange Way of Running Company

Pros

If you don't mind working with people who are going to force last minute jobs on you for minimum wage then this company is great to work for.

Cons

The moment I stepped in their office for a second time for orientation, the mood shifted from positive to down right unnerving. I had a good feeling about them when I spoke to the first woman in my interview and was very excited to be working with them, but when I came in for orientation I felt as if the staff was condescending and desperate for employees. So... I quit and they were livid. I received a few messages to return the tote bag they gave me which I had not used but had been too busy to bring in, now that I am working two jobs. Had they perhaps sent me a shipping label I would have gladly sent it back much sooner. They've harassed me now saying they will try to ruin my credit over a tiny bag with useless garbage inside. When I called the owner back after her harassing voicemail she did not answer. i had a very strange feeling about them during my second visit there, so when I had another job opportunity come up I obviously went elsewhere. It seemed like they wanted to own my time & life, with unrealistic expectations to what the job actually was. A VERY strange way to run a company. The pay is garbage. If these people try to scoop you up, run the other way and work privately. These people do not seem like they are willing to help you in any way. They lack the personal skills to make their employees feel comfortable and safe. Very weird vibes from management, their empty ghost town office, and their employee policies.
