Pros

They don't hire criminals who were caught. Free soda while working If You Have Any Time To Even Get a Drink. You get a year end bonus gift with their label on it so you can advertise for them... in front of everyone so that your coworkers think that you are being appreciated. Once in a while you will get a printed off achievement appreciation paper, but usually right before you are told you have to do your survey about your job. Register people get incentives for secret shoppers, the kitchen workers get left out. You get a profit sharing check at the end of the year that isn't directly deposited.

Cons

They threaten to write up even the good workers if they don't get everything done. They don't give you time to help your customers, because you have to get all your chores done instead or you get written up. They think equality means to treat your good employees the same as their bad ones. They are always short staffed, but your still expected to get all your stuff done or you get written up. You are told to smile while they keep pressuring you to get your work done without giving you enough time, while threatening to write you up. They refuse to give you full time, yet make you stay late and then tell you that you have to watch your hours, because you can't go over, but if you don't stay when you are asked you get written up for insubordination You are suppose to get two 10 minute breaks for an 8 hour shift, but sometimes you don't even have time to go to the bathroom to pee for 2 hours at a time and don't end up getting a break. Cooks don't get the same incentives as registers and thus end up wanting to change to being a register and thus they can't keep good kitchen help. They don't keep at least two people in the kitchen at a time. You are expected to cook, run out food, clean, and help customers with a smile all at the same time.

Pros

Competitive wages, great benefits, new technology that makes tasks easier (new locations mostly)

Cons

Kwik Trip treats its employees like family, however, there can be a lot of emotional manipulation and SLs will either make or break your experience. At my store, there was a constant feeling of not being good enough - we were given so many tasks that they became impossible to finish unless we stopped serving our customers. In my case, I was coaching other new-hires (same paygrade) on tasks, and then getting an earful at the end for not doing everything. Your hours of availability won't be respected and you will be reviewed for how often you cover your coworker's shifts. For my coworkers, something I often saw was they would become the SL's new "favorite" until a couple months later when they decide to start cracking the whip again and writing them up for tiny mistakes. It was very manipulative. Eventually, I told myself $15/hr wasn't enough to keep subjecting myself to this.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry that was your experience. We understand that our coworkers work very hard, but it's very rewarding, certainly not boring, the shifts go by incredibly fast, and they have fun with their coworkers in the process! If you believe that there is something that should be looked into please contact our Human Resources team at (608) 793-600.

Pros

Fast-paced environment, decent pay, work is NOT hard... unless your seriously lazy. If you work hard and maintain a positive attitude you can go anywhere in the company. If you can create the right team and joke around and have fun your going to love your job.

Cons

Within the last few years the company has taken a turn, I feel they focus less on their coworkers needs and are more concerned about how to make money and make the business appear great. Of course thats how a business is supposed to run, but we're retail and no ones going to stick around if you aren't going to care about your people. They continue to pile on ideas but corporate office you're not at the store working, it is nearly impossible to accomplish these day to day tasks. You're losing great people everyday in your company because of all the changes and added responsibility. Managers are stressed and over worked and continue to not treat their hourly coworkers with respect they deserve. Your money and bonuses aren't everything, if you do any research... money is not what keeps a person at a job.
