Pros

- Great peers and co-workers. Very helpful. - Great skillset gained with peers

Cons

- Poor pay. Senior level position isn't even 6 figures considering the ton of workload given! - Constant layoffs! 6 waves for the past 2 years and there will be more next year. The survey conducted isn't really anonymous and if you respond negatively it's highly likely you'll get included in the next wave of layoff. - No guidance from middle management. They just throw lots of tickets from different projects but they do not care if the deadline is not realistic. - Too much preferential treatment / nepotism from the middle management. Several team members do not document their work but the director/VP is okay with it because of being 'friends' with them. Don't ever try to do the same thing if you're not within their circle because they're gonna make a big deal about it. Double standards!

Pros

- Sometimes, your colleagues, but watch out for all management or any senior contributors who have been there since SMS Assist.

Cons

- Terrible Management - Layoffs, endless layoffs - Culture of bullying, harassment, and retaliation. Don’t go to HR unless you want to be first on the layoff list. - Middle management is completely useless, and upper management only cares about their titles.

Pros

The problem space is challenging with extremely high operational headwinds.

Cons

If you're even remotely considering joining Lessen, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST. I urge you to reconsider and run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. This company is an absolute train wreck, and getting involved with them is essentially signing up for a one-way ticket to utter bewilderment. First and foremost, let's talk about the so-called "leadership" at Lessen. The CEO is the epitome of cluelessness. This person couldn't lead a successful team even if their life depended on it. Their complete lack of vision and ability to steer the company in a coherent direction is nothing short of astonishing. The CEO spends more time making empty promises and spewing corporate jargon than actually addressing the real issues facing the company. It's no wonder the entire organization is in shambles. They're more interested in attending fancy conferences and posing for photo ops than understanding the intricacies of their own business. (See their LinkedIn, it’s all they have.) (See the Google reviews of their corporate office as the truth is there.) Speaking of business practices, Lessen should be called out for what it truly is—a company built on deceit and unethical behavior. They have mastered the art of cheating their vendors. Cut corners and deliver subpar service—that seems to be their motto. Their contracts are filled with hidden clauses designed to screw over any service provider naive enough to sign on the dotted line. Honesty and integrity are foreign concepts here. If you value your time, money, and sanity, steer clear of any dealings with Lessen. As if the incompetent leadership and unethical practices weren't bad enough, the internal culture at Lessen is absolutely toxic. The product team operates as a boys' club, where cronyism and favoritism run rampant. It's a disgusting fraternity atmosphere where only those who schmooze with the right clique make it ahead. Don't even think about voicing a different opinion or, heaven forbid, being a woman trying to break in—you're in for a rude awakening. Meritocracy is a joke here; it's all about who you know and how well you can play the political game. People working here are overworked, undervalued, and micromanaged to death. Employee turnover is through the roof, and for good reason. They have conducted no less than 5 rounds of layoffs since late 2022. The company's approach to work-life balance is to eliminate the "life" part altogether. The only thing you'll gain from working at Lessen is stress, demoralization, and a deep resentment for wasted potential. If you decide to join Lessen after reading this, you are either extremely desperate (ask yourself why), or you don’t care about your career at all.
