Pros

The programs work (SI, VV, OCN)

Cons

The culture from corporate management is disgusting. We are all clowns in their circus being told to smile away the global pandemic and financial crisis the world is going through. Do not be fooled: it was like this before Coronavirus. If you speak out against them say goodbye to your job. Learning center managers are not valued. Regional directors and senior management are old friends that are out of touch with what it is like to be in a center. They demoted all the lowest paid office staff to keep all the corporate puppets that tell us how to smile more. They value being popular over skills and only praise people that they deem worthy. They use scare tactics to motivate managers in learning centers to do their jobs. They pit each learning center against each other and are now pitting our likability against each other in a battle to keep our jobs. They promote a happy and open culture but all learning center managers know they are not allowed to talk honestly to regional staff or else you risk your job. Everyone is currently pretending to be on board with the happy culture of smiling and having your It Factor but everyone is too scared to say anything. No one knows what is going on and the executives and regional staff are pretending that the only issue is center not selling enough. There is no honest communication in any department and when you are asked for your honest opinion it is immediately used against you.

Chattel

Recommend

Pros

Cute kids who do hilarious things

Cons

Employees are chattel , which has never been more clear than through this pandemic. The ways in which the corporate entity, tucked safely away from the public and away from kids with developmental disabilities and no sense of personal space or boundaries, demands that people risk their lives for the measly salary they pay, the crumbs they allow to drop from their corporate profits, is borderline criminal. Furthermore, the condescension with which they treat their faculty is deplorable. At my center, most people have graduate degrees, yet the corporate shills behave as if we don't have a clue about pedagogy, how to work with children, or the English language. It's almost incomprehensible, honestly. Everyone is miserable. All of this with no consistent schedule or set hours on which to depend, just a constantly changing mess of dates and times.
