A mess

Pros

Working hours are decent, office views in NY are excellent

Cons

Terrible culture that stiffles innovation, almost all the talent has left the research team since the research head doesn't know his face from his butt, Henry has surrounded himself with yes-men/women while most of the senior leaders are trying to only protect their jobs, they take the research of younger employees and present it their own, .... Can keep going...

MSCI Response

We are sorry you feel this way. Based on feedback by other employees and workforce data we routinely collect the culture, work environment and engagement is actually strengthening. We take your comments seriously. If you feel this strongly, why don’t you express your concerns directly to your manager, senior management or HR. What do you have to lose? Expressing this level of discontent in an anonymous way is personally unhealthy and does little to improve your situation or the environment in general. Please consider becoming part of the solution.

Pros

The company is making a significant effort to promote innovation. You are encouraged to put your energy and ideas to work. Teams are globally distributed, so although you may need to take meetings at all hours of the day or night, there is understanding if you need to carve out time for your life during what more traditional corporations might consider the work day. The people here are very talented and hard-working.

Cons

Staff are culled on a regular basis. It should always be kept in mind that MSCI's loyalty is to the bottom line, not to the employee. If your current perceived value to the company is less than your current compensation, you will be at risk of termination, regardless of your tenure or your breadth/depth of knowledge.

Pros

Was great team dynamics 10 years ago. New management slowly killed jobs, morale and innovation. Interns can be helpful, before they move on and don't look back

Cons

Business cycle reaching plateau phase, so we seeing anxiety and even more cost cutting. Too many foreign teams, for wrong departments. Little trust and broken groups. King and queen bee behaviors. Especially if a VP or such is from the partying and/or school circle of top leadership. Lots of clueless upper level moodiness and careless executive leadership. Can make you look other way when in front of client or vendor. Everywheer, actually. And constantly. Like in development and facilities management. The crazy paranoid manipulation and targeting for the better part of the past decade. Great laziness and no accountability. Sinking morale. No trust for office management when we see how it damage people and company image.
