Pros

Awesome coworkers, but this depends on the store Pretty flexible with requests for time off if you're part time

Cons

They say they like to promote from withing but take forever to do so Higher-ups that don't work in-store have no idea how stores work Laughable raises and compensation Heavy push for the store credit card, which is an awful card you you get nothing for getting people to sign up besides being entered in a monthly raffle Employee discount is a joke Corporate employees who come in to shop (Only where corporate is in Eastern MA) are all full of themselves and think the company policies they make don't apply to them CEO gave herself a multimillion dollar raise and they company will barely pay employees more than 15k a year. District Managers like to cut payroll and expect more and better work out of fewer employees Company cares more about employee theft than customer theft Company wants everyone to be on alert for theft but would rather give in to thieving and abusive customers for "customer service" than do anything about the theft

Pros

-If they like you, they'll work with your schedule. -20% discount days. -The friendly environment comes from your peers, the only thing I really liked here.

Cons

-Sad wages, work to pay ratio is mediocre. -Understaffed most days. You can tell by how the floor looks and how long that layaway line is. -Extremely unprofessional and self centered management. -Selfish managers -Favoritism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -10% discount, this is a con! 10% off for being an employee is NOTHING. -Layaway systems mediocre, a large amount of manual work is required to find people's information or layaway. -favoritism -they'll ABUSE a good workers ability to work great without even thinking of giving them a raise. -no immediate raise for cash office position. "Have to wait until review time to get your extra dollar" simply BS.

Pros

Competitive salary, full benefits program

Cons

Beyond the initial 5 week training, few opportunities exist for further formal training, unless at SM level. Standard requests met with: Look it up in E-Library. There are few opportunities to participate in or provide input to merchandising or operational decisions. It's the Marshalls Way: deliver the programs, and everything is a program. At Leadership Conference this year, managers told: If we wanted you to think, we'd pay you more! There is NO passion for the merchandise. Store is open floor plan. Often missing basics and trends...'that's just off price retail'. Payroll inadequate to fully staff floor and programs. Programs devour most of the payroll. Service level...Store environment...Not priority. Get it in...Get it out...Ring it up... Serious disconnect between senior leadership and store level. Carol...Ernie...Amy! Get out of your offices! Talk to your people! Find out what's really happening in your stores!!! Unfiltered by district managers, regional managers, zone managers!
