Current Manager unbiased review

Pros

401k is outstanding! Business is growing and continues to challenge managers to adapt, make quick decisions, and evaluate current strategies through deeper thought processes. Current business growth will allow those willing to grow with the company an opportunity to shine through effective communication and implementation of process improvements. Educational reimbursement program is great and those that want to move up should use it. Opportunity for growth and advancement if you are willing to go the extra mile, prove your value, be a part of the solution, and understand that we are in a people first business.

Cons

This is not really a con but something that should be re-examined. The current scorecard model is a bit dated and should be revamped. Not all DC's are the same and DC to DC comparison and ranking is not very effective in evaluating divisional strategies and/or effectiveness. There is an internal model that divisions can use to evaluate themselves over prior year or period. This should be part of the equation when creating a new model. Current low unemployment rates make it difficult to retain or hire at times.

Good Company.

Pros

Vacation, sick and personal days. We’re almost always two people on a truck, helps the day go faster. Stay within your two hour delivery window and you’ll never hear from dispatch. Our transportation department is staffed with really good people that will listen and help if you have a problem. Starting pay is $2,000 bi-weekly. (That’s $1,000 a week)

Cons

You unload the whole truck with a hand truck, (between 20,000 and 40,000 lbs) with two of you working it you can do it in about 12 -16 hours. Sometimes the load isn’t that great, but you work with it. We’re a 7 day a week operation so until you get a set route you are on the “extra board”. If a driver calls off you work with his partner, extra loads, and you’re on-call the days you don’t work.

Stable company, but not a good place to work

Pros

Benefits standard of a large corporation, good. Stable business model

Cons

Low pay, NO time off the first year. Then after 1st year that they only give you 10 measly days until year 7! Low morale with other employees, not good at showing appreciation for hard work. Not interested in keeping employees happy, everything to them is about the numbers and making them. Frugality at its finest with no room for error. Employees are expected to work and work with little or no appreciation whatsoever. No incentive to move up or stay with the company with lack of monetary compensation or vacation time until much later. They want people who have no life outside of work and live to work for them, and expect to be thankful that they work for their "great" company and purpose.
