Pros

There are a few front desk shifts on weekdays or Sunday PM that aren't very tough, and could work for a college student trying to get experience in the hospitality industry.

Cons

Living on-site, woefully inadequate compensation for someone on-call 24 x 7. Constant drama and turnover from maintenance and housekeeping employees who may just have been released from prison, or first job in the country. Refusal of company to invest in non-renovated properties; not even vendors want to work for us. Poor compensation at every level makes it very hard to improve staffing or develop future managers.

Pros

For a single young man/woman very great position to have. Comes with an apartment on the property where you pay no utilities or rent. The managers and upper management are amazing! At a convention in Hawaii the CEO of the company was out on the dance floor having a good time with all the rest of the managers. Oh yeah I forgot to mention every two years they gather up all the GMs and above and take you on an all expenses paid vacation/convention. Last year was Hawaii. The daily work life is busy but easy. It comes down to building a good team and having the right attitude to work hard.

Cons

The pay is probably the number one downfall to this company. GMs are asked to do sooo much and the paychecks do not reflect that. Sure you get a free apartment, but still for all the long nights and early mornings, conferences, trips, and playing housekeepers, maintenance person, and front desk clerk; GMs should definitely have a little better pay.

Pros

None. The Guests were nice but I can't think of anything else good to say about this Motel 6 that was formerly LaQuinta in Arcadia.

Cons

The Manager is disrespectful and calls people at 7:00 am on a Saturday morning and tells them they must be there by 9am if they want to be considered for a job. There is no regard to what is going on in your life. How unprofessional. Then he tells you to come in and does not show up. He changes the schedule every 5 minutes. He responds to "how are you?" with " I am blessed" all the time - really? are we in church??? He refused to help a guest who was struggling with a luggage cart. the Manager, owner, and another employee stood around watching this woman with an injury struggle to get the cart through the door while keeping me behind the desk making me study material that says "I must anticipate the guests needs" And then has the nerve to tell me I was not good with the customers after I checked in 7 guests with no training. He then insisted I learn everything in two days or they are "moving forward" because he wanted the weekend off. I did nothing wrong. this may have been racially motivated given the news events on the day of hiring and I was the only white person. He refused to put in writing the reason for firing me after one day. The pay was awful anyway.
