Toxic and Dysfunctional

Pros

There is opportunity to contribute to important issues, despite the nepotism, dysfunctional policies, hostile senior leadership and secondhand IT. I would have cited work-life balance until the recent revision of policy on rotations. The new policy? Go where we tell you, when we tell you, even if it mean losing your house and your spouse having to sacrifice their career. If you turn down a directed move you will be "invited to resign."

Cons

Senior leadership is a cult of "yes people" who are more interested in promotion by facilitating the organization's delusional policies rather than speaking up and trying to fix the organization. As a whole, the organization is adrift, with no focus, policies that contradict stated objectives, hostile HR policies that seem designed to push people out the door and horrible IT. The organization is a walking EEO complaint. Having worked in the military, several government agencies and in the private sector, this is easily the worst run organization I have experienced.

Pros

Always good to be employed. The flex hours help with childcare.

Cons

Where to start....people are just really unhappy. Many of us were just passed over during the recent Rank In Person Promotion cycle but I and many others have no clue what to do to be more competitive. I am a technical expert but it seems like management wants only generalists. I am now being told that my performance score will be lowered this year because management wants scores lower. But what if Im doing great work and work hard? Nope, scores will be lower

Pros

Government benefits and close to home

Cons

Numerous Personnel issues and EEO complaints that are left unresolved. Management tends to promote their buddies who don't have the qualifications to do the job. Upper management doesn't care and they see the good people who want to make thing right as the problem. New Career Services and Mission Talent Alignment is taking the control of your career out of your hands. People are being moved to new positions without any say in the manner. Promotion have turned to "Rank-In-Person (RIP) which some refer to as Rest-In-Peace.
