Pros

Local HQ in Perrysburg has a small-town feel. Great location if you prefer more rural suburbs. Offices have adequate space. The plant jobs house some great, hard-working individuals that tend to truly care about the product they are producing. These plants are typically located in rural areas that maintain the surrounding community.

Cons

What used to be proud staple of Toledo, OH, O-I has become plagued by misguided executive decisions to keep its insignificant share price from falling further as its only product (glass bottles) slowly falls out of consumer favor. Layoffs and outsourcing have become the norm with no transparency from senior management as to what the end goal is. Job security at any level, even high upper management, simply does not exist as the c-suite continues to slash labor costs. As a result, employee morale is incredibly low with most folks concerned about what little jobs exist in the Toledo market. While local Toledo firms continue to expand, O-I seeks to cut and outsource. Career advancement has been stunted due to most middle-management jobs being eliminated. For those looking to start their careers here out of college, I would be VERY cautious.

Pros

The only Pro's are that there are great people to work with at the company, the benefits are good and pay is competitive but in all honestly very similar if not better at other companies of the same caliper in the Toledo metro area (Dana, OC, The Andersons, etc).

Cons

Company as a whole is very short-term focused, GLT and managers fail to look at the big picture, experience is irrelevant to hiring managers. Honestly, my quality of life has improved massively after leaving this company

Pros

Good benefits and 401K. Most co-workers fun to work with and nice.

Cons

There are to many to type! This company is corrupt and actions are illegal. Management is discriminatory and moves "favorites" ahead and forgets the rest of the employees. Employees are not valued and OI turn over rate is large. Upper management fine with their talent walking out the door. It is so difficult to find people in the glass industry to hire but they still watch the talent quit and leave.Beyond political and very bad behavior from many people. Women treated like we just crawled out from under a rock. Mainly a male world. Woman are turned into assistants while men never are. I could have gotten a friend in but would not do that to a friend. Bosses truly do not care about their employees. I am so glad I got out of there because it was seriously making me sick. Culture is set-up by the leaders to be extremely competitive and back stabbing. HR is worthless as well. They are not their for employees.
