Poor compensation combined combined with "Goode 'Ole Boy" culture
Pros
It's a stable paycheck. If you do not have experience it's a place to acquire some, then move on to an employer that values their employees. Shareholders and executives turn record profits every year. Most of your coworkers will be nice.
Cons
Pay is abysmal. Year after year after year raises were withheld despite excellent performance reviews. Company is the epitome of the corporate entity (ie shareholder profit) being the only thing that matters. Executives have every incentive to keep labor costs low, hit their numbers, and cash in millions in stock. Management shares a similar agenda. Some of those nice coworkers will take credit for your good work and deflect their mistakes to you. They will be awarded by management with promotions. I would only work here if I were desperate. The stench of greed permeates. Really sad to see a once family owned company fall into becoming only concerned about the bottom line. But this is the price of going public. Those who are in can do no wrong. Cronyism at its absolute worst.
