Pros

Good chef, though some meals w/o protein, which is a licensing issue, but good homemade food.

Cons

Management had no business getting into this line of work. They have no educational background and are completely unqualified to lead effectively. Also, the line between owner and director is extremely blurred. If director was allowed to, well, direct, things might be different. It is critical to have educational experience when owning/running a child care. Owners are as fake and phony as they get and only care about image. Staff is constantly gossiping negatively behind one another's back and that includes management. No one can trust anyone and that breeds an extremely negative and mistrustful environment. You supposedly get a day off during the week, but you get called in on that day, which might be fine if you get over time, but you don't. Instead you get cut on another day so you still only get 40 hrs or less - often less, as they cut you the second ratio is down. It is very very much about money. Quanity over quality and absolutely everything boils down to the bottom line. Turnover is nonstop.

Pros

Decent pay, brand new building, the children and their parents are wonderful and make the job bearable

Cons

This review is for Primrose School of Minnetonka in Minnesota. A really poisonous place to work, incredibly high turnover rate, unprofessional management. Lots of gossiping and bullying. Just some of the negatives: - you are frequently prevented from and discouraged from using the bathroom. They even made us write down HOW LONG it took us to use the bathroom for a while. They told one of my coworkers that she should limit her liquid intake. - Ten hours days with one 30 minute break. If there are after-school events you won't get another break (I worked 13 hours once with one 30 minute break and no thank you) - unqualified staff working with the children - You get zero support in the classroom, when you ask for help they are completely unresponsive and you'll be left waiting - The owner, Cathy, gossips all the time about the employees to others. She had her favorites and make sure everyone knows it, it's incredibly demoralizing. She's a really emotional, unprofessional woman. - There is zero team-building, most of the staff doesn't get any contact with each other so you feel isolated in your classroom and because of all of the turnover you don't know half of your co-workers names - They drop the ball on so many things...they don't keep parents informed about important things, they don't update staff, they make everyone look bad because of how unorganized they are - You get the third-degree when you call in sick and are often forced to work while very ill - there have been pregnant staff members who have asked to go to the hospital and told they have to wait - No healthcare benefits

Pros

The children and the families are why teachers stay at this particular Primrose.

Cons

Upon beginning my journey at Primrose School of Minnetonka, i was hopeful and excited. We opened it brand new and starting with a fresh clean slate. Unfortunately, this wore off very quickly after opening. The team gave much slack to the owners because, after all, it was new to them and any new business needs a year to get everything in order. The lack of support from the owner, but yet insisted on being there 12 hours a day, was astonishing. We would get back lash for babies crying (what babies will do time to time), to the point of the owner coming into the room and questioning every time she heard. Things started taking turns for the worse when the true colors of the owners started coming out; i was verbally assaulted on several occasions, in front of the children, in front of parents, in front of staff. Miscommunication was her downfall, lack of empathy and a very very short fuse. All smiles, she was, when tours were given to new families. Behind the scenes; we were given two bathroom breaks a day (other than when on our lunch break), we had to sign in and out when we left to relieve ourselves. We were advised to lower liquid in take, and to hold it until the allotted bathroom time. In one incident a teacher had to use the toddler potty during nap time because the office blatantly ignored our call for help. We were often left out of ratio in the mornings, as i juggled 6-8 babies with parents asking where my help was. As i embarrassingly smile and say 'theyll be here soon'. teachers began to leave, left and right. we opened this Primrose with 30ish teachers, and by the time i was done out of those 30ish there were maybe 5 left. I had never in my life seen so many come and go. i heard there were about 40 teacher rotations in a 6 month period. i was left with a different substitute teacher every single day for 5 months, in an infant room (not appropriate) and then questioned and ridiculed for being stressed, tired and not myself. i cried every single day; from either the owner mistreatment, the overwhelming lack of help, or exhaustion from explaining to ANOTHER sub on how every baby works. there are so many cons and it is such a toxic environment. i cannot believe these people still have this business. it is sickening that Primrose Headquarters allows these two to run this.
