Pros

- Watching the total collapse and mismanagement surrounding the acquisition - Having no communication during my last 4 weeks at the company

Cons

- Total lack of empathy from leadership around redundancies for those who were made redundant and those who were left to pick up the pieces - Embarrassing handling of reorganisation following layoffs and resignations - Explicitly no job security guaranteed for those who were not made redundant, outsourcing to India seems to be Progress's entire business model - Making jobs and people redundant when they had clear intrinsic value both to the community and company as a whole - Clearly 0 thought put into the redundancy process, may as well have drawn names from a hat - Empty promises from Day 1 of the acquisition met with deflections and "I was not involved in these decisions" from upper management when queried on them - An attempt to persuade me to stay with a laughable stocks package but no compensation or empathy for the actual step up I would have needed to make to cover for the people who were let go - Tore apart many brilliant teams and wiped out an entire engineering office because of their incompetent handling of the acquisition - Receiving no thanks or farewell from anyone in the company when departing And my favourite... - Being asked by my new manager if now was a good time to hire in the market the week after laying off half of the office

Pros

They have a high matched pension. That is all.

Cons

They make no attempt to retain essential staff during an acquisition. If your company is being acquired, please consider moving to another company. I too read these glass door reviews but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. There is a reason that their score is 3.1 as of writing this review. Run. - They "run lean" with high profit margins regardless of what that takes. - Maintain an attitude that allows them to remain "comfortably obfuscatory" - You can have 3 managers within two weeks, some of them can be your current peers! - Lack of experience is not a barrier to entry with regards to working at Progress. In fact, if you are inexperienced, that is a positive. - Keen followers of the Peter Principle. - Gut businesses and hope to retain any of the customers to continue to make money while killing innovation and moving as many jobs to India as possible.

Progress Response

As a current employee, we encourage you to reach out to your Human Capital business partner to discuss your concerns. We likewise encourage patience. There are always adjustments immediately following an acquisition when two companies become one and teams get accustomed to new corporate cultures and new ways of working. Progress has a strong 40-year history of proven success, and this includes making acquisitions that generate significant value on both sides; making the unified sum greater than the individual parts. That future, and the work needed to get there, may not always be clear to those not involved in the planning. But there is absolutely a bright future ahead for Chef, for Progress and all of our employees, customers, partners and communities.
