Pros

Some of the managers and other marketing team members are great.

Cons

It’s all smoke and mirrors. It’s full of toxic positivity from the top down. The turnover rates in the marketing department are presented as a positive, as if it was “for the best because they didn’t embody the Cane’s Culture”, or that they “got an amazing opportunity that they couldn’t pass up.” People are quitting this department without jobs, taking pay cuts, and changing careers just to get away from this leadership. If you like being micromanaged and lied to, this job is for you. The people above you have no idea what they are talking about but want to tell you how to do your job. I feel horribly for the people that get recruited into this position. They are openly lied to and think they are coming into an amazing role, at a phenomenal company with an awesome culture, but it’s all a PR stunt. Last fall when they made a big deal of corporate level employees going to work in understaffed restaurants? A few were there, sure, but for only about a week. It was all for the media coverage. Leadership doesn’t know anything about what you do, but wants to tell you what is best and how to do your job. They want a “yes man”. The quality of the hire is going down because they just want someone who will do as they say and not have an opinion. They believe in feelings vs facts. Consumer insights are non existent here. Data collection is minimal, if anything at all. They also manage out of fear. This is not how a good company is run. There is no life-work balance. They don’t care what you have going on after work hours. They actually tell you not to put an Out of Office message on when you are on vacation because you need to always be available. To them, Cane’s comes first and it doesn’t matter who you have to inconvenience to make sure you are where you need to be at the drop of a hat, any time of the day/week. When a marketing department has a turnover this high, you have to wonder what type of leadership this organization is okay with having in place and why. This company is not what it used to be and it’s only getting worse. It’s like being with a toxic girlfriend/boyfriend. They beat you down, make you feel inadequate, and like you’re not good enough for anyone else. So you stay there thinking there isn’t anything better out there for you but there is. The review from August of last year on the marketing department said what everyone that worked here was thinking. Nothing can honestly top that. If you are considering any position in the marketing department in any state, but especially California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, New York, DC, or anything they consider a growth market, DON’T DO IT! And yes, we all talk to each other.

Great pay but at what cost?

Pros

Great pay for salaried managers Flexible work schedule Good culture (only inside of your restaurant) Involvement with community Strong bonds with your team (only at your actual restaurant)

Cons

Severely over-worked Unrealistic expectations of employees Toxic corporatized environment Highly toxic corporate atmosphere where everyone who actually earns money for the company is dictated to by people sitting behind desks in a comfy office in Dallas They will force you to run your people ragged until they quit and then get mad at you for losing them in the first place It will not feel good to force your team, shift managers and crewmembers, to work so desperately in such an understaffed and high pace environment for industry-leading low pay Worst work/life balance you an possibly imagine Shocking level of disconnect from the corporate office to restaurant employees

Forget about Culture

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Pays competitively, holidays off (rare in the food industry), great culture if you're a crewmember, if you're a manager- forget about it.

Cons

Frequently understaffed management teams, lack of development/direction, zero quality of life, and no job stability. The owner is more concerned about selling the franchise back to corporate than treating his team like people. You're a pawn until you voice dissenting opinions, then you're curb decoration.
