Pros

Sometimes you feel like your helping the children when there’s enough staff to keep them safe as well as sit down 1:1 with them.

Cons

Horrible management! They have no idea how there employees feel and don’t even care if the kids are safe as well as the staff. Always running short on the units. Some days it’s 10-14 kids on a unit with one MHT. Totally unacceptable and quite frankly dangerous! It’s only a matter of time before a kid or staff gets hurt BAD! Super high turnover rate with staff also!

Pros

Friendly co-workers, acceptable to above average compensation

Cons

Scheduling is a mess, either too many scheduled and constantly being cancelled (over 50% of scheduled shifts cancelled for months in a row), or census increases without a plan and they're desperate to find staff to fill too many holes. When the census is high, they don't bring in enough staff and the ratio per patient is unacceptable. Techs that have ZERO CNA background left to care for high needs patients needing assistance in and out of bed, wheelchair, the toilet, assistance wiping, showering, etc. This is a dangerous situation where someone will end up hurt- either patient or staff. Ratios need to consider the type of patient and not overfill unit with patients that will fight/riot. Also, with these types of patients, it needs to be staffed more appropriately for staff to be able to separate and de-escalate situations.
