Pros

For the most part, reward is equivalent to performance. Motivated teams, very fast paced environment. If you can filter the noise, good learning experience. During regular day to day operations, never felt any discrimination, but there are groups, more like cults that don't like to collaborate.

Cons

Lacks diversity, sometimes situations and decision making gets too political. The generous bonus plan i mention equates to abandoning your personal life. They could be a bit more generous with the stingy PTO policy, out of which roughly 4-5 are forced PTO days, which they call shutdown. The only orientation or training that happened was with regards to HR policies and processes. Within most engineering teams, you are thrown in the pool and you learn to swim on your own. Most managers are managers because they run out of engineering titles at some point. A lot of these people need to be taught people management and people retention skills

We appreciate your feedback and your comment about our work environment. We strive to reward everyone fairly for their work and appreciate you recognizing that. We pride ourselves in contributing to the competitive environment of the Silicon Valley and believe our motivated teams are a crucial component contributing to this success. Your feedback about our orientation and training programs is very helpful. In our Voice of the Employee (VOE) survey conducted in July 2014, several other employees communicated similar concerns with regards to training. In response, a team of leaders from different departments have spent several months outlining specific issues within their organizations in terms of training, and have now created specific trainings that address the issues found within their organizations. We are confident that the time we dedicated towards this initiative will help solve several of the issues mentioned in the VOE and hope that employees find the new trainings useful! If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to reach out to any department, as we welcome any feedback that can help us continuously improve our practices!

Low level management is the pits

Pros

Upward momentum of the NAND flash industry and Sandisk is a big integral part of it.. Good overall and stock compensation

Cons

Non existent culture. Suck up to long timers to get promoted. No value for title. Extremely top heavy - Almost everyone is a "Director" or above. Low level cronies of certain Directors have no knowledge whatsoever of the products they manage, have 5+ employees leaving within a short span and still get promoted. if you come from a good company or went to great schools and have had a good career, joining SanDisk is kissing your career goodbye. Review and rating is a joke

Pros

- flash is cannibalizing HDDs and will for years to come, guaranteeing the business will survive. It's practically idiot proof - coworkers are highly competent in most BUs, particularly in operations, and work very hard. Some are exceptionally great human beings - focus on rotating and learning different areas is great! - well recognized brand name - long term future is positive (2017 onwards), if you can ride it out.

Cons

- a 1990s company that never culturally changed with the times. Compared to their Bay Area competition, with startups and companies like Google, they are culturally regressive, prone to internal turf wars, and focused on hours not output. - significant portion of employees are H1B, so expect downward pressure on salary - just look at the stock. Multiple layoffs significantly impacting morale, and short term future not rosy due to loss of technology leadership in NAND (late to 3D NAND) - economy is hot, this company is not. The company sucks at M&A - if you are a millennial this is not the place to be.

Thank you for your input! Many companies have initiatives to bring in new and fresh talent of interns and recent university graduates…including SanDisk! We have developed a very comprehensive intern and University Relations program constantly trying to improve the experience for interns and university grads. Every summer we host our internship program which offers not only a creative environment to learn about their field and the industry, but also many fun social events. Just as we encourage all of our employees to be innovative and explore their interests, our University Hires and interns are encouraged to do the same and are provided a breadth of resources to help them be as successful as possible. Here is a great article of how one of our interns really took innovation to the next level and made a difference! http://bit.ly/1QxeMWy Regarding your technology feedback, together with our partner Toshiba, we are actually the only company who has announced 48 layer 3D NAND. We expect to continue to be at the forefront of this rapidly developing technology and we are very excited about what the future holds for us!
