Look Elsewhere If You're Seeking Stable Work
Pros
You meet some good kids and good staff members at host schools.
Cons
*No accountability from the Scoot staff. During the interview, I was told that I would have consistent work, but that wasn't the case. My consultant would claim it was due to my preferences of grade level and whether or not I was a car driver or bus rider, which wasn't an issue during the first half of the school year. *They don't understand that employees have to work in order to pay things like rent and bills. You'd go for weeks without work. *You would come across unruly students, which gets worse as you go into middle school and high school. *Scoot Education mainly works with KIPP Charter schools and some staff at these host schools won't be as helpful as they should. Others will be available. *I learned that Scoot Education hired more staff during the second half of the year and consultants will 'give a chance' to those new hires by giving them hours and not those already hired. *There is an inconsistent schedule: You may be working around three to four days in the first half of the school year. Then less than three days the second half. Maybe weeks without work. And the Scoot staff will make excuses, possibly blame you for the lack of work.
