Pros

Good benefits, though the post from my Russian colleague would indicate that's not true globally. There are some really talented people (all of whom are looking for other jobs).

Cons

Micromanagement. The CEO has a desk in the corner of the main floor, which is home to the sales, marketing, and services functions. It's not to make him more accessible or part of the team, however. It’s higher than the other desks for the purpose of monitoring who is at their desks, for how long, and when they come and go. He's even known to sit by the front door late on friday afternoons. It’s no wonder the moniker “Mr. Burns” (from The Simpsons) is used by employees to refer to him. The CEO recently addressed the company and referred to it as “a factory.” This is completely accurate. In fact, if you look at the management principles applied in the 19th century, you’ll find remarkable parallels.

Pros

Solid products and place to get closing experience... that's about it.

Cons

Pay is so much lower than every other company competing with them. I cannot stress enough how miserable I was during my time there. Day in/ day out - you're baby sat by your managers and chastised for having not made a call by 8:30am. You'd think for a measly 50k/ year salary and unrealistic quota they'd have lesser expectations - but nope! You better be on the phone bright and early or else you'll receive constant slack messages/ calls about why you're not putting in "activity". This goes across the board in terms of performance. You know its bad when you hit presidents club and still want to leave for a company that doesn't view you as disposable and actually values the efforts you put in. They constantly preach how climbable the ladder is there - why do you think that is? EVERYONE LEAVES! This place sucks! They lose talent left and right because folks are overworked/ underpaid/ under-appreciated. Want to take time off? Forget about that. In 1 year I took off 54 hours... and every time i requested it, I had to justify why I needed it - even after I had met or exceeded my commit. Thought I had earned it? This place is such a joke and just hires cheap talent. They can't even pay for you to park your car in the garage. If you want to work at a company with a revolving door and crap pay, SmartBear is the place for you!

Pros

The CEO is a terrible human , has an old school approach that doesn't work with this generation. HE DOES NOT GET IT!!

Cons

Phone Calls are valued more than the money you bring in.. Wait, What??? It's true, you will see!
