Pros

The office was nice. Many of the employees were nice. Snacks were okay.

Cons

Senior management has zero managerial experience, zero corporate experience, and seemingly have no idea how running a company works. There is an unbelievable amount of micromanagement from the top down, and for nothing, as most of the people in roles of authority have no experience in their vertical. If they do have experience, it's the bare minimum. Most of them would have been fired from functional companies long ago. The CEO is immature and bull-headed, and as much as they tout being "intellectually humble," every manager there will act as though they're better than you are. There is a clear pattern of nepotism and favoritism at the "company" and they have a long way to go and grow before anyone there is capable of making that place successful. There is something to be said about a place that has to fundraise as many times as they have in such short time... if I could erase it from my job history, I would.

Pros

Opportunity to make your own schedule

Cons

I found the notion of a “flat” organization with “transparency” to be a facade. I witnessed dysfunction and infighting. The CEO/founder is a skilled storyteller and is persuasive and can pontificate with dexterity. But over time, I found this all to be inauthentic and even misleading. I saw a lack of substance, true respect, and follow through in how he treats people, shares information, and manages the company. For example, the company claimed to prioritize diversity. Yet all but 1 C-suite position was held by white males, most of whom were domineering and bullying in their communications with junior team members.

Avoid at all cost and a waste of time

Pros

There are people who are passionate about their role and what the company is trying to do. Schedules are flexible.

Cons

Toxic Work Culture: Working here felt like you were in an episode of “Game of Thrones” where everyone was plotting against each other. I was once told that I failed at my role during my yearly review, even though I’ve had 4 supervisors in the year and a half that I worked there and received company strategies that were the focal point of my role a month before I left. You couldn’t ask for guidance because management would use it against you. If you did ask questions, it was like pulling teeth for them to answer. Projects were with vague instructions in order to “validate your poor performance.” Horrible Leadership: Management didn’t know what they were doing but pretended like they did as my department head had no expertise in the field our team worked in. They would ask for your input but would get mad or brush you off when you offered suggestions. Communication was poor from management, compliments were rare but when they did happen it was disingenuous. Mirco Management: Management tracked everything we did with daily updates, multiple meetings, and asana tracking. They would also go into documents and just watch while you were working on something. It was overkill and it took a lot of time away from doing your actual job.
