Pros

Work-life balance, interesting projects, good clients, amazing coworkers, 12 weeks of paid family leave, benefits package, stock program, plenty of work backlog.

Cons

Not agressive enough with hiring staff to support the team. ZERO internal equity with pay. New hires require large compensation packages while existing, committed employees (including management) are promised compensation adjustments due to a market review process and given negligible adjustments. As a supervisor, we were given talking points for the 2023 rate review period of how to explain to employees that wages are NOT tied to inflation and they should be happy with what is provided. I'm aware of other comparable companies giving multiple inflation adjustments to all employees regardless of position as opposed to trying to convince employees it's not a factor. There is a lot of discussion around retention but no real efforts to fix the issue.

Pros

This company is a collection of many acquired firms, which have some great people and projects.

Cons

1. Buildings practice leadership in the US has a track record of incompetence and inexperience. Almost all of the business leaders are not registered professionals. 2. Unethical behavior was at times, not only tolerated, but covered up. 3. Not enough due-diligence when selecting leadership after acquisitions. Many people that were put into positions were as a result of negotiations to "close a paper deal" vs. qualifications. 4. Their internal statement of "we put people first" couldn't be further from the truth. They put their shareholders first as well as their senior administration. 5. Stantec has a decent reputation in Canada, but has made a poor first impression in the US. Those that leave discover that the brand is much worse to the community. 6. Because of the companies marginal reputation, top talent could not be brought in organically but only through a large payout of a new acquisition.

Pros

Challenging work- good for a project portfolio.

Cons

You will work with machine-like humans who are frustrated with their job. No team culture. If you are new, you will always feel like you are new there. Diversity is a joke in some of the core teams even in a place like NYC. Your mental health doesn't matter here. Small overcrowded office- WFH was a relief.
