Pros

Very excellent staff at all levels. Have yet to find someone I wasn't ultimately impressed by. Minimal red tape or shenanigans to pilot. Very "come as you are" company; Plain clothes, and easy to interact with the people here. Fun people and fun culture. Very purpose and community driven. Not a money hungry "corporate" vibe at all.

Cons

Minimal vacation time comparative to other office work. They talk about work/life integration which means you can leave if you need to take care of what you need to and no one will hassle you, but your actual PTO is extremely minimal. The problem then, is when you want to take true vacation you might have a week at best over a year that you can take off guilt-free. The rest of the time you are off, you aren't really off the hook for your work. So stressful situations you are free to leave and then make up the work, but true vacation you are choked on. Many of our jobs can be done remote, yet they insist everyone, everyday come into the office for 8hrs.

Pros

Culture is great, people are awesome and youll have fun with your co-workers everyday.

Cons

Growing pains. Lack of space and equipment for the applicable departments. They overlook the basic needs of their employees (no sick leave and a very basic PTO of 2 weeks, which you only acrue after working for months). They claim the casual, family like office culture compensates for this, however, if you have a family you can see how this isn't fair. No amount of office culture makes up for my earned time to be with and take care of my real family.

Pros

Most of the people they do hire are very nice and they do know how to throw a good party. Unfortunately, that does not make up for the cons.

Cons

Because of all these things and more, I've been hesitant to leave a review but I've given it a lot of thought and I'm really hoping this will help save someone from the experiences that myself and many others have had. This company breeds a toxic work environment filled with cliques masked by smiles and the pushing of "values." The values that only pertain to those who are not in the "in" group. One of those values is "hungry spirit" where they preach that you should be helping out wherever you can and no task is beneath you. While this is a good value in theory, it's pretty much their excuse to tell you you're not working hard enough unless you're doing the job of 2+ people. I was maxed out in capacity while I was there, and I did help my team members whenever I could, yet I kept getting the feedback that I wasn't "hungry" enough. If you're not in the "in" group, you're an outsider. I have first-hand witnessed grown adults choosing not to like someone with no rational reasons why, then making microaggressions to try and push this person out. It's a form of bullying I didn't think I'd experience after high school. I've also witnessed gossiping and talking negatively about other coworkers for which only the ones who do it and get away with it are those that are part of the core group (consisting mostly of managers and executive leadership). It's an incredibly toxic environment that's led from the top down. There is no concrete career advancement plan. They keep it vague in order to load you up with responsibilities in hopes of a promotion, which will never happen unless you're part of the "in" group. Expect to get paid in "events" and "treats" instead of an actual livable wage. I'm fine doing a little extra work, but I'd prefer to be compensated monetarily over getting a free beer every once in a while. There's about 0% chance you'll be able to work from home. That is unless you're a part of that “in” group where you can convince them. If you decide to leave, whether you found a better-paying job or you’re just over being outcasted, you will be dead to them, no matter on the terms in which you left. They take it incredibly personally. Some people seemed to be let go once HR found out they were even looking for other jobs and I had even witnessed others who left where certain upper level managers would call their friends at other companies and tell them not to hire them. If they really thought about their employees as a family, they would not do that just because someone was wanting to move on to find something that’s better for them.

Supportworks Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Supportworks, we appreciate all feedback, even hard feedback, as it helps us improve as a company and to deliver a better employee experience. We're truly sorry to hear you felt this way during your time with us. Creating a positive and supportive work environment is one of our top priorities, and we take concerns like yours seriously. 1. We want employees to experience great career growth here and many have over the years. Being a mid-sized employer (currently at about 100 employees), our growth is more measured and steady, and usually advancement comes when we are able to create new positions. One great example is someone who started as an installer and is now a VP! 2. We do have lots of events including “treat trains” and it does make work fun, but we also strive to be competitive in pay. We had a third-party review of our pay bands in 2023 and are in the process of reviewing pay again this year. We care about paying our employees fairly. 3. We are mostly a work from office culture. We strongly value the camaraderie that comes from being together and we think most of our employee like it as well, as we have just been named Best Places to work for the fourth time in five years. All that said, we hear there were some areas we fell short in your experience, and we are sorry for that. You mentioned bullying and that is a very serious accusation. We’d love the opportunity to discuss your concerns further to better understand your experience. If you’re open to talking with us, please reach out to our President, HR, or whoever you are comfortable speaking with. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and truly appreciate the time you spent with us and the contributions you made to the team! - Human Resources
