Pros

The children, the families, and a small group of coworkers, were seriously the only things that kept me around.

Cons

Poor pay compared to other preschools in the area; franchise-wide focus on paperwork and ridiculous "curricula" that does nothing to foster meaningful development in the children; very limited benefits; no set payscale (staff who have an unrelated, or no, college degree make as much compensation or more than those staff who are licensed, accredited teachers); franchisees who aren't required to have any knowledge about preschools or education before opening a school; franchisees who have no desire to spend money on their programs above lining their own pockets.

Pros

You can write your own lessons as long as they follow the pre-set theme. Prestige and recognition to clients.

Cons

Teacher contracts make employees feel "trapped" and management does not value their employees. The owner blatantly proclaimed that "none of you will ever get real teaching jobs but if you insist on leaving remember you are easily replaceable" and then became frustrated when more than half the staff up and quit. Teachers get burned out quickly.

Pros

Children and families are wonderful! Lots of resources for the children and teachers. iPads in each classroom, new materials for the children, large playground, beautiful facility.

Cons

Management offers little to no training for new hires. I was thrown into a classroom within my first 5 minutes of being hired. I didn’t know procedures, routines, or daily practices. Also, management expects you to place work above your family priority wise. My child had a high grade fever and they told me to come to work anyway, which would expose everyone to whatever illness my child had. I was vomiting with fever another time and was told I had to come in because we were short staffed. Blatant disregard for the health and safety of not only me and my child, but for the children enrolled and the other staff members. Also, I get zero time for planning per week. All of my lesson planning and curriculum building is done on my own time at home. If there is extra time in the day, they are sending people home instead of giving us time to plan. Apparently, that extra $5 for planning time will break them financially. Employee turnover is absolutely ridiculous, I’m talking 4 to 5 new hires quitting every month, I’ve never experienced such a thing in my life. We are told over and over again that we are a school and NOT a daycare, yet we get paid less than most daycare centers pay their teachers.
