Pros

co-workers are awesome. They hire great people but treat them like dirt.

Cons

Every aspect of working at Unidine was a horrible experience right down to the mental abuse. The fact that this company is still in business with the level of mis-management that's going on is shocking. The owner of the company is a crazy man who's only concern is making sure everyone knows he is in charge. I have never seen a human being with such disregard for other people, it's almost like he is not human. I would say that any of the positive reviews on here were put in by the HR department because there isnt a person in the entire company who wont agree with this review. they are just to afraid to say for fear of retribution. well, maybe some new employees that just havent been here long enough to feel the mistreatment, horrible pay and unrealistic expections impressed on the employees. There is no care for families and people are fired for no good reason at the most in opportune times. To the crazy man at the helm, no one is worth the piece of gum stuck to the bottom of his shoes and he truly wants to make sure you know where you stand with him. He has humiliated and devasted people to the point of despair and ruined families with his cruel selfish ways. Yes, people have even died due to his uncaring, horrible treatment and total disregard for humanity. that is as much as I will elaborate on that right now but trust me, it is very true.

It is disappointing to read this review as it is not reflective of our employee retention trends or the company culture. Our turnover rates are actually well below industry average and we attract top talent who find our culinary excellence and service standards appealing. Leadership at every level is committed to fostering a positive work environment that extends from weekly employee recognition to dozens of untold stories of going above and beyond to support team members.

Pros

Looking for your next job already? No, not your next job at Unidine, the job after that. The good news is having Unidine at the top of your resume gets you noticed - everyone in the Boston recruiting/staffing scene knows all the horror stories and will be extremely impressed that you managed to make it out of there alive. I have literally had multiple recruiters ask me what it's like to actually work at Unidine and tell me that the fact I spent several years there is a sign I can handle pretty much anything. There's a Whole Foods, Sweetgreen, and a great sushi spot across the street which is nice since there aren't any dining options available in the office. Yes, you read that correctly, a food service company does not offer onsite dining for employees in their corporate headquarters. It's a real head-scratcher.

Cons

Can't speak for the field but the Boston HQ is easily the most insane workplace in America, yes that includes the current White House. CEO is a straight up maniac and probably suffers from multiple Cluster B personality disorders. The rest of leadership is mostly fine, but when you get down to it they're just complacent lackeys who'll roll their eyes and laugh about all the madness with you behind closed doors but would rather keep their cushy salaries than grow anything even mildly resembling a backbone. The #1 sign of a fake Unidine review is a positive mention about the culture (#2 is lack of resources or rapid changes due to being a "growing company" in the Cons section, this place has been around for twenty years!) because no one with a single functioning brain cell could think the culture is anywhere near normal. The CEO mistakes surveillance and control for productivity and accountability. Expect your every move to be monitored, every website visit to be logged, every moment spent away from your desk to be taken note of. Expect to be tasked with developing new innovative strategies only to get shut down by the head honcho at the 11th hour when he concludes that doing what he's always done is the best way forward. Expect to make new friends every 6-8 months since turnover is out of control, especially for certain positions. You'll probably become good friends with those people though, it's a real "enemy of my enemy is my friend" sort of situation there. Expect those friends to get axed without warning, that is if they haven't quit already. Expect to get paid $50 to memorize a corporate mumbo jumbo screed about BS values and recite it in unison every day at approximately 10:15am like you're in some sort of cult. Expect crappy benefits, zero flexibility, antiquated ways of thinking, and hefty bills from the therapist you'll inevitably need. It's amazing Unidine has gotten away with doing what they're doing for as long as they have considering the things that go on there. The place is BEGGING for multiple lawsuits. If I weren't so afraid that Unidine would find out my identity I'd share all the nasty, twisted stories from my time there but if you're considering a job here, I implore you to look elsewhere. I PROMISE IT IS 100X WORSE THAN YOU THINK!!!
