Pros

Good coworkers and cool customers.

Cons

Would not recommend working at Maxar until Advent finishes gutting the company. Maxar recently revised the company values and removed "You matter", which tells employees how they view us. Leadership has laid off too many employees versus shifting them to teams that have active contracts which desperately need more people, yet another leadership failure. Furthermore, top talent is fleeing Maxar, as the company refusing to give competitive compensation packages. Existing employees are being over worked as a result of poor leadership with no clear vision and are not compensated, which is resulting in more talent fleeing. Leadership told us that they can't give raises because we are x million in the hole.... how much did we pay the last c-suite to resign....doesn't take a rocket scientist to track the money flow. Furthermore leadership basically told us they don't care that talent is fleeing, they will just hire fresh graduates. Over all, I'm very sad with how Advent has gutted Maxar. Maxar use to be a great place to work at with great leadership. Now its just a sinking ship

Pros

Extremely interesting technology and problem space. The products the company produces really do some good for the world. The company attracts people who want to work there and care about the products and mission as much as they do the career opportunities.

Cons

The company is really in the weeds right now due to poor direction and decisions by executive leadership. Compensation for workers is stagnant and is really starting to lag behind businesses competing for talent. In addition, cost cutting at the company is rampant and is being executed in poorly thought out ways that eschew strategic planning, data driven analysis, or feedback on impact from lower levels of the company. There appears to be a culture of ego and elitism brewing at high levels of the company that is fueling a widening gap of lack of trust between those executing on the work and those at the top of the company making decisions. All signs of servant leadership and empathy have eroded from those in the upper few rungs of leadership. The executives appear more focused on waging political battles amongst themselves to ensure their place in the eyes of our new parent company then they do about ensuring their workers have the tools they need to be successful.
