Pros

I'm truly Honored and grateful for the opportunity to step into Exc. Chef role. My journey with White Lodging started 14 years ago as a line cooks. and through the years I've had the chance to learn from incredible mentors, and talented teammates who shaped my career. Every challenge whether it was learning new menus, leading a kitchen through a busy season. or mentoring new cooks, helped me grow both professionally and personally.im excited to continue learning and contributing to our success, and to inspire others in the same way I've been inspired through out my journey.

Cons

No major, but prefer to easier hiring process.

Pros

White Lodging is transforming its brand to more upscale Marriott/Starwood/Hyatt/Hilton brands. Plenty of opportunities and company truly tries to promote internally whenever possible.

Cons

White Lodging’s new buzzword has been engagement, which essential creates a culture of giving in to every whim of your team but leaves managers in the dark. Recently White Lodging tied bonuses to your property’s Gallup survey results. The survey is meant to be anonymous, but if you want your bonus you obviously will give 5s across the board and will do whatever it takes to get your associates to give 5s. Their 2018 Gallup award is completely invalid as it is based off years of “coaching” employees on how to take the survey. White Lodging even sends out monthly conversation starters and troubleshooting tools on how to increase these scores. This leads to managers taking multiple surveys which makes the entire process a waste of time. White Lodging’s culture is one of always having to share how amazing everything is and spreading a false sense of happiness and fulfilment when in reality everyone is miserable and overworked. If you want to be promoted within the company, you are essentially forced to post weekly/monthly on your PERSONAL LinkedIn page how fabulous life at White Lodging is. After constantly being "reminded" via email by my direct manager to post or repost something to LinkedIn, I politely reached out to corporate HR for clarification on if this was a requirement, only for them to turn around and contact my direct manager about the inquiry. I was met with borderline retaliation ever since. Turnover is White Lodging’s greatest problem. They take too long to address unethical behavior and leave positions empty or take forever to fill a position to make budgets and save money. It is virtually impossible to enjoy time away from the office or use vacation. Company culture does not respect operations manager’s work life balance by encouraging after hour calls, emails, etc. to get the job done. No one is every properly trained because the turnover is so constant. All of that coupled with below average industry pay makes this company one to avoid.

Pros

Awesome company. Can’t speak enough about how much I love it there.

Cons

45 jobs were just cut. During December no less, right before Christmas, it was announced that we will not have jobs. We only have about 8 weeks of work left. Full departments were cut and other departments were cut in half. But supposedly it’s okay but it’s a good thing for the 100 or so people who remain employed. And it’s great for the longevity of the company as a whole. Awesome. I’m not someone who was laid off. I’m just in shock that they would do this. I feel as though I have been mislead by all of the corporate engagement that was once so strongly pursued. I didn’t ever think that this company only saw us as a number on a spreadsheet and that we were expendable for their financial transactions. They care more about making a bigger “foot print” in the hospitality industry than the people who live in the region of nwi and who wanted to retire from that company. Very disappointing. Lost respect and cannot trust what I thought I knew about the company.
