Pros

Good job-life balance, Salaries are comparable, co-workers tend to be kind, most work spaces are nice and offices are well kept.

Cons

Opportunities for advancement are highly political. Hard work with outstanding results goes unnoticed, is taken for granted or management takes the credit. Senior Management strategizes to move long standing employees out rather than train and promote them, unless you are a "yes man."

Pros

There is an element of convenience and skill acquisition that can make a brief tenure worthwhile.

Cons

Very small minded cliqueish manaagement. Management based on territorial defense and self preservation.

Pros

Decent benefit package, like most government jobs. Your job can be fairly secure if you can pass your probationary period. The cost of living in Yolo County is slightly more affordable than other places in California.

Cons

Departments are understaffed and workers are often doing the jobs of 2 or 3 people with some of the lowest compensation rates in the state for comparable positions. Managers are typically not supportive and there is little reward for employees who think creatively and try to improve their workplace and community. Human Resources and several departments were recently written up by the Grand Jury for questionable hiring practices. Each department has their own hiring and management practices and the rules seem to change depending on the day. Morale is low across the board which makes for a very unpleasant working environment. There is very little opportunity for advancement once you are in a position and most departments do nothing to develop a culture where employees can be promoted from within the organization.
