For the second time in our history and for the first time as a large-sized company, COCC has been named the #1 Top Workplace in Connecticut! This year, we saw top scores in the areas of unique benefits, personal motivation, manager support, and recommending COCC to others. COCC also earned a special award for excellence in communications, having ranked highest among surveyed companies for the statement: “I feel informed about important decisions at COCC.”

We're a Great Place to Work® once again! The prestigious award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at COCC. This year, 95% of employees agreed that COCC is a great place to work. COCC scored over 90% positive in several different areas. From the standpoint of justice and equity, 96% of employees feel that they are treated fairly regardless of race, gender, age, and sexual orientation, and 94% believe that management is honest and ethical in its practices. In terms of flexibility, 94% of employees report that they can take time off work when they feel that it’s necessary, and 94% also believe that COCC is successful in managing an engaged and productive hybrid workforce. Additionally, 92% of employees agree that COCC offers special and unique benefits.
A rapidly changing business landscape meant that COCC had to find qualified staff to fill open positions while equipping managers with the skills and tools necessary to manage a hybrid workforce. Expectations around work responsibilities and hours have changed, adding further complications to COCC’s approach to supporting and empowering employees. We reacted quickly by adopting a variety of online tools, creating connection opportunities, and fostering an environment of belonging. Through COCC's Charitable Giving Fund, employees have the opportunity to donate to a wide variety of causes and organizations throughout the year. In 2022, employees donated over $17,000 through our Fund! *These statistics are based solely on employee payroll contributions and do not take into account all of COCC's charitable giving programs.

We value our employees’ feedback and opinions. In recent months, we’ve been hard at work analyzing our compensation structures to fill in the gaps and ensure that our employees are paid equitably across the board. In 2023, we’re also going to be rolling out Lifestyle Savings Accounts – a new benefit where employees can use COCC-provided funds to pay for a variety of their wellness needs. Another new benefit for 2023 will be the addition of another community service day, which will allow employees two full days to use toward serving their local organizations. All of these offerings are thanks to our employee feedback!
With a laser focus on promoting career pathing, close to 40% of our open positions were filled internally and 22% of our employees moved into a new role, helping to ensure career growth and retention. Read more about this and our other employee successes this year in our Annual Report!
