Meet Rob, today's #FacesOfCA feature! Here, he shares details about his career path at CA: “Almost four years ago, I began as a Professional Development Specialist focusing on i-Ready and Ready Mathematics implementations. After two years in that position, I was very excited to make the transition to my current role as Professional Development Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region. It's incredibly fulfilling to work with such talented and passionate colleagues across our internal teams. Everyone’s diverse background plays an integral part in our growth and success. Each day you feel more empowered and excited to support the leaders, educators, students, and communities we serve." Curriculum Associates is hiring Professional Development Managers and Specialists throughout the United States. Check out our open roles and apply today! #InsideCA
CA’s DEI commitment has recharged my team with a mission greater than just our day-to-day work. This commitment allows us to push our hiring teams to think of the talent strategy in a holistic way rather than fixing our immediate needs. For example, on the Talent team, we added two new roles. Sarah Wilson, has changed her role to focus 50% of her time to sourcing candidates of color and managing partnerships that focus on diverse candidate pipelines. In addition, Keisha Jordan was added to increase diversity focus in all we do, such as job descriptions, candidate evaluations, and sourcing strategy. Meeting fatigue is a real problem many companies have faced in the past, and this issue only intensified during the pandemic. At Curriculum Associates, we have a people-first culture, and work-life balance is something we actively look to protect and improve for our people. Therefore, meeting burn-out is an issue we’re addressing head on. To overcome this, Curriculum Associates re-rollouted some Meeting Norms work we did a few years ago (plus a few new additions) asking that people have proper meeting etiquette, such as: • provide agendas and pre-reading in advance of the meeting • provide notes and actions after the meeting • be thoughtful about who’s required and who can be optional • end meetings five minutes early to allow transition time • consider moving some meetings to “phone only” Additionally, we now provide a couple 90-minute blocks throughout the week where we ask people not to schedule internal meetings.
We’re thrilled to be selected for Built In’s 50 Best Remote-First Companies to Work For list. Despite the unexpected circumstances of 2020, our goal was to ensure work could continue seamlessly as we moved to a fully remote organization, and do so in a way that our employees continued to feel supported personally and professionally as we faced these changes together. We’ll constantly evaluate this approach and our benefits/perks offerings to ensure our people have what they need to thrive. #InsideCA
Rob Waldron just celebrated 12 years as CEO at Curriculum Associates. Here, he shares the 12 best leadership lessons he learned during his time with the company. #InsideCA #FacesOfCA
Curriculum Associates is committed to ensuring we’re a champion of anti-racist ideals through our products, services, and corporate culture. We believe in the importance of employee-led efforts, one of which is our book club which is currently reading Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi. Our book club costs are reimbursed in full, and employees can use work hours to host their book discussions. A handful of CA employees recently facilitated complex discussions about this book for 140 employees. Breaking down into ten groups, participants further discussed anti-racism and what they can do in their day-to-day to help fight systemic racism. As one employee puts it, “The book club allowed us to think critically about how we can be actively anti-racist when building products for our students or serving our educators.” If you’re interested in understanding how racism was introduced to America, we highly recommend this book!
"There is a feeling that, though our efforts may be imperfect, we are in this together." Woody Paik, Executive Vice President at Curriculum Associates, shares a history lesson and compelling personal reflection in this op-ed via The Hechinger Report.
