Chief Engineering Geologist Drew Kennedy, PG, CEG, enjoys reminiscing about his first job in earth sciences. As a new geologist, he envisioned spending his first day shadowing the lead geologist, who was performing fault trenching and geologic mapping for a proposed dam site in the East Bay hills of San Francisco. Instead, he remembers spending the day learning how to drive a manual transmission in the busy streets of downtown San Francisco! Fast forward three decades and the California native remains passionate about the active dynamics of geology, and he drives a stick shift with ease. Get to know Drew in this month's Our People feature!
"The stereotypical work of a college intern usually involves busy work and fetching the boss's coffee. At Gannett Fleming, though, this was nowhere near reality. Every task and project assigned to me had a greater purpose and was utilized in continued business functions throughout the firm. Due to this level of importance and responsibility, I was able to see my hard work make an impact on the firm and a difference in my department." Avery Putt, Penn State University class of 2022 and Gannett Fleming talent acquisition intern, shares more about how her experience in our summer 2021 XCEL Internship Program helped her grow professionally and personally. 🎓 Read more in our latest Careers blog!
