It was just another day in the office when Customer Account Representative Linda Gingrich began choking at lunch in the Peterborough Call Centre in Canada. Luckily, Michael Baker, a Customer Accounts Team Leader and Emergency Response Team (ERT) member, knew just what to do. He jumped into action, performing the Heimlich maneuver on Linda. His quick thinking and actions saved Linda’s life and earned him GM Financial Corporate Security’s first Ready. Set. Safe! award. From shelter-in-place events to first aid, and man-made hazards to fire emergencies, GM Financial’s nearly 1,400 ERT members are trained in various emergency response procedures. The ERT is the foundation of the company’s Emergency Management program, and its members are a dedicated group of volunteers who serve as trained first responders to provide support during emergencies.
When this customer spoke with Crystal on our team, she saw firsthand what it means when we say that we put the customer first. “It can be embarrassing and uncomfortable calling regarding losing a job and needing help. At no time did I feel uneasy or embarrassed during our conversation. She was incredibly nice and very helpful.”
