H2M’s civil engineers Joel Richardson and Steve Hyman attended a public information meeting at the Lakeland Fire Department in Ronkonkoma on March 14th for the newly proposed 40-acre Ronkonkoma Properties redevelopment project being proposed by the Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning, in partnership with the Town of Islip. The Town and County recently released a Request for Qualifications for a Master Developer for this project, which will accompany the under-construction Ronkonkoma Hub project, located in the Town of Brookhaven, on the north side of the LIRR tracks. H2M attended the public information meeting to support our client TRITEC Real Estate Company and helped answer questions from the public about TRITEC’s plans for the site. Suffolk County and the Town of Islip are scheduled to choose a Master Developer in early Spring.
Project Spotlight: Here is a photo of the digging box placement for installation of a drywell at TRITEC’s Ronkonkoma Hub job site! Our Civil Engineering team worked on Phase 1 of the project which included site layout for six buildings with a total of 489 units, new parking facilities, ½ mile of town roadway design, 1,500 linear feet of gravity sewer main design to an off-site pump station, and associated utility and drainage infrastructure design. We have also worked on conceptual layouts for future phases and will be beginning the design soon. Stay tuned!
On March 21st at the NJ AWWA 83rd Annual Conference, the New Jersey Section of AWWA presented H2M’s Project Engineer, Brian Van Nortwick, with the Next Generation Award for outstanding achievement and leadership as a Young Professional. The award is given to an AWWA NJ Young Professional member who is actively involved in AWWA’s activities and programs and has displayed distinctive leadership and meritorious services in each of the following areas: service, good fellowship and participation.

It’s World Autism Awareness Day! Today is an opportunity to recognize and support all children and adults with autism spectrum disorder. World Autism Awareness Day aims to celebrate the unique talents of those with autism, while putting a huge focus on the warm embrace and welcome that these skills deserve through community events around the globe.
