Hej everyone! My name is Suzanne Dale (she/her) and I’m an ED&I Ambassador at IKEA San Diego. Women empowerment and gender equality, to me, means a fair chance at the same opportunities that are afforded to my male counterparts. I admire my mother, the late Johnnie Mae Wells, who taught me that I can be whomever I want to be at any time of my life, as long as I believe in myself. At IKEA, the co-worker who has empowered me the most is Cortney Baldwin. She has challenged me to be a more persistent leader and to use all that I’ve learned through life experiences, ED&I and IKEA values to help others.
Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, a celebration of the lives of transgender people. We are committed to supporting all of our co-workers, which is why we launched global trans-inclusion guidelines to help managers build trans-inclusive teams and workplaces.
Hej! My name is Elora Prescott (she/her) and I’m a Loyalty Manager at IKEA Bolingbrook. At IKEA, I’m supported by a company that cares about inclusion. In my role, my supervisor empowers me and pushes me to embrace my talents and strengths. She’s an amazing woman who motivates me every day by challenging and supporting me. She embraces who I am and encourages me to be me, flaws and all.
We welcome anyone and everyone at IKEA U.S.! 💙 We’re committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all through our membership with the @Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) and our pledge to secure gender equal pay. Learn more about our policies here: https://bit.ly/3BcVSUF
Together, we're creating a more equitable IKEA. This year, IKEA U.S. will focus on three ED&I priorities. Every IKEA leader must do their part to lean into one of our strongest IKEA values- #togetherness. Learn more from our Chief Diversity Officer:
We are excited to be recognized in Forbes’ America’s Best Large Employers 2022! The IKEA family of co-workers grows together and creates a safe and inclusive workplace for all. “We believe our culture, which is based on a strongly held and widely shared set of beliefs, greatly guides our strategies in making IKEA a great place to work. Because there is always more work to be done, we continually strive for improvement that ensures an inspiring, fun, safe and inclusive workplace,” Phil Wellington, IKEA People & Culture County Manager. Thank you, Forbes, for including IKEA!
Hej! 👋🏽 My name is Kayla Coleman and I’m a Customer Resolution Manager at IKEA College Park. My favorite way to celebrate Black culture, is showing my diverse friend group the movies I grew up watching. I find joy in highlighting the contributions of Black filmmakers and they’re natural conversation starters!
Hej everyone! Waving hand My name is Balkissa Kida and I’m a Customer Care Services Leader at IKEA Cincinnati West Chester. To me, Black joy at home means healing. My joy as a Black woman is teaching younger generations about who they are and who they can be.
We’ve been inspired by theSkimm’s #ShowUsYourLeave campaign to join the conversation and share our paid family leave benefits! IKEA believes that the well-being of our co-workers should always be a top priority. We aim to provide our co-workers the flexibility to create a healthy balance in their work, families and communities. Learn more about our benefits at www.seeacareerwithus.com
As a commitment to our community, we have funded Nu Spiral, an interracial public art collective with an anti-bias, anti-racist lens. The collective was named in honor of Spiral, a collective of Black artists that formed in New York’s West Village during the 1960s. The Nu Spiral artists launched the project formally last August with the theme: “What does liberation for Black, Brown and poor folx look like?” The collective will be bringing three new underpass murals to New Haven this spring.
