Here at IKEA U.S., we are lucky to have so many incredible co-workers who make our success as a company possible and contribute to our commitment to creating better homes, better communities, and a better planet. Today we’re excited to share that IKEA Retail U.S. is raising starting wages for all U.S. co-workers to $16 per hour, beginning January 1, 2022, with some hourly wages starting at $17 or $18 per hour depending on location. A majority of U.S. co-workers will also receive the “One IKEA Bonus,” a performance-based payout totaling $76 million in the U.S., in addition to the one-time Ingka UPPSKATTA gift of $17 million to be distributed among all U.S. co-workers. We have also enhanced our comprehensive benefits packages to include a minimum of five weeks paid time off, education assistance, back-up child care, adult care and more. Each day we strive to take steps to create a great place to work for all of our co-workers, and we’re excited to expand these benefits to help our co-workers create a better life at home for themselves and their loved ones.
Over the past year, people in the U.S. continued to seek a new meaning of home, and we’re honored and humbled to have played a role in their journey by providing the products and solutions to meet their needs. In fiscal year (FY) 21, we saw one of our most successful years to-date at IKEA U.S., and we couldn’t have done it without our co-workers, customers and neighbors. As we reflect on FY21 and look toward what’s next, we have plans to continue to grow business by bringing new store formats to city centers, remain committed to becoming climate positive by 2030, and continue efforts to impact climate change and social injustice by working together through collaboration and advocacy on issues that impact everyone. Across the U.S., teams came together to navigate another extraordinary year. They adapted to their new reality and continued to help the many people create better homes, better communities and a better planet.

Did you know that we sell over 1 billion meatballs a year? 🧆 To continue selling these juicy bites, we’ve taken a climate friendly approach by throwing our plant ball into the mix. This helps us to reach our goal of becoming climate positive by 2030 while still giving our customers the IKEA classic they love so much. 😋

From businesses and governments to people at home, we all have a part of play in protecting the home we all share. To continue our part in combatting climate change, IKEA is joining COP26 - UN Climate Change Conference as a partner to furnish key areas of the venue in Glasgow. COP26 is a critical moment to inspire change and enable the many to take ambitious climate action and deliver real change, and IKEA is happy to be a part of the process. 🌎
It is critical that we act now to address the climate crisis. We applaud the Biden administration for the bold sustainability initiatives proposed in the Build Back Better Act.
