There is a youth mental health crisis in this country and if you ask almost any kid or young person in school, they’ll tell you that things have only gotten harder since COVID-19. Through our social purpose platform, Mission Every One, Macy’s is committed to helping tackle this issue because we believe in creating a more equitable future for all. This school year, we’re partnering with National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) and The Jed Foundation (JED) to improve the mental health & emotional well-being of young people across the country by asking our valued colleagues and customers to round up their in-store purchases or donate online during checkout in support of both organizations. Within the past few weeks, we’ve spotlighted colleagues who've shared their incredible input on why Macy’s is an amazing ally and place to work for the LGBTQ+ community. We're excited to share our final testimonial featuring Tom Crotty, a Sales and Customer Service Manager at our Macy’s Anderson Town Center in Ohio. Tom shares his thoughts on diversity as well as gives advice to anyone interested in joining the Macy’s family! What does diversity mean to you? - "Diversity to me is being cognizant of, respecting, and embracing everyone’s unique background. We all need to learn from one another’s experiences in order to truly grow and connect on a human level. Rainbows would be so boring if they just were one color." What advice would you give to someone who may be interested in joining Macy’s? - "The more you are yourself, the more you will be embraced at Macy’s. Your personality and individuality go a long way here." #PrideMonth #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #DEI #LifeAtMacys #macysJOBS

During May, our Macy's customers rounded up their in-store and online purchases to donate nearly $1.5 million for APIA Scholars and their vision to make a difference in the lives of Asian and Pacific Islander American students through scholarships, mentoring, leadership programs and more, to ensure scholars thrive on campus. To help bring this campaign to life, our colleagues at Queens Center, Metro Center and Barton Creek invited local APIA Scholars in-store for a personalized professional styling and shopping experience, courtesy of Macy’s. APIA Scholars at the Metro Center event shared some of their favorite parts of the experience. “It was incredible that Macy’s gave us the opportunity to actually work with a Stylist. I feel much more confident in my ability to take my style to the next level and just own it.” “It makes me feel really supported in pursuing the dreams that I have for my career. This makes me feel like I can move forward with confidence, and I have people to fall back on.” A huge thank you to our colleagues and customers for helping to empower APIA students!
