#NIAID’s Lab of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology seeks applications for a position as a staff clinician in the area of neuroimmunological diseases. The goal of the Neuroimmunological Diseases Section (NDS) is to gain understanding of the mechanisms that cause central nervous system (CNS) injury and those that have neuroprotective functions and mediate repair to develop effective therapies for human neuroimmunological diseases, especially multiple sclerosis (MS). As such, clinical work in the NDS is related to investigator-initiated, proof-of-principle clinical trials, which are investigating major pathophysiological mechanisms in MS. The focus is on comprehensive, multimodal analysis of disease progression, as measured by clinical, para-clinical, imaging, and molecular/cellular biomarker modalities and on development and validation of data-driven tools of clinical utility, such as novel diagnostic and prognostic tests and new clinical outcomes.
