NGA Director VADM Whitworth participated in a fireside chat during The Cipher Brief #ThreatCon2022 where he discussed NGA’s ongoing initiatives with CEO & Publisher, Suzanne Kelly. "I just got the final numbers for NGA's support to Hurricane Ian. In 10 days, we reviewed 400,000 square miles of imagery and 20,000 damaged structures and created 1,000 custom, waterproof maps for search, rescue, and recovery efforts," said Whitworth.

Last week, NGA Director VADM Whitworth welcomed Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security Ronald Moultrie to our campus in St. Louis to see NGA's unique missions in #STL and NGA's future west campus, scheduled to open in 2026. #NGAinSTL USD(I&S) Moultrie addressed the #STL workforce during his visit and voiced his appreciation for the mission and work of #TeamNGA.

NGA is well known for the analysis of imagery and maps, but text, or written language, is also a part of the mission. In a year-long study, members of the NGA workforce reported that text reading and generation occupy up to 80% of their average workflow, whether in conducting research, reviewing documents, or generating reports. NGA conducted the federally funded study of natural language processing allowing the workforce to save precious time.
