As Native American Heritage Month draws to a close, we honor the voices of two inspiring Indigenous Crewmembers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) whose heritage and stories illuminate the power of culture and resilience. Introducing Yazarah Lightfeather, Cashier at MSP. Yazarah is a proud young Anishinaabe Ikwe (woman) who sees Native American Heritage Month as a celebration of visibility and resilience. Through her work at MSP, she not only serves guests with pride but also advocates for cultural understanding and awareness. For her, this month is a time to honor her community's strength, amplify their voices, and address critical issues like Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). With deep pride in her heritage, Yazarah embodies the living, thriving spirit of Indigenous peoples, representing the vibrancy of the 7th generation. Meet Joline White, Sous Chef at MSP. Joline is a passionate Indigenous culinarian whose roots and traditions shape her work. For her, Native American Heritage Month is a time to raise awareness, preserve traditions, and inspire younger generations to thrive. Inspired by her late mother, aunt, and the work of Indigenous chefs like Sean Sherman, Joline celebrates the richness and sustainability of traditional Indigenous foods.
