This month, we celebrated Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at OppLoans. As we honor the achievements of the community, it's imperative to also recognize the discrimination that the community still faces and the importance of year-round allyship.
Join us in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This is our opportunity to recognize and celebrate the generations of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans that have enriched history, blazed new trails, and influenced change in society. Oppt for East Asian Ingenuity, our business resource group dedicated to celebrating Asian heritage, will be honoring this month by amplifying Asian American voices, raising awareness of AAPI experiences, and paying tribute to the cultural contributions of the community. #LifeAtOppLoans

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day at OppLoans and honor the achievements of women, raise awareness against bias, and take action for equality. Let’s continue to challenge not only for today but every day. #LifeAtOppLoans #IWD2021 #ChooseToChallenge

Last week, we held the final session of our 2020 DEI speaker series - an initiative that introduces outside experts to facilitate dialogue with the OppLoans team on issues surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. Harvard Professor Sarah Lewis, bestselling author of “The Rise,” shared her insights into the power of surrender for fortitude, the criticality of play for innovation, and the importance of grit and creative practice. “Creative triumphs are not achievements, they are conversions of improbable, difficult circumstances. Not unlike the one that we find ourselves in today.” #LifeAtOppLoans
Last week, we held the latest in our DEI speaker series - an initiative that introduces outside experts to facilitate dialogue with the OppLoans team on issues surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. This session featured Deanna Singh, a highly respected thought leader, gifted communicator, and champion for marginalized communities, who travels the world motivating and educating audiences about living with joy and purpose. Deanna illustrated for us the challenges that come from a culture that is exclusionary and shared tips and techniques on developing inclusionary practices that we can implement in our own environment. “Encourage dissent. When you have diversity at your table, one of the main benefits is that diversity leads to innovation, but you will not get to that if you don’t allow for people to have differing opinions about what is going on. Practicing dissent as a team is an incredible tool.” #LifeAtOppLoans
