Thank you to everyone who helped our residents have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Valley Brook Village in Basking Ridge, NJ had a great time providing food, music and games to their Veteran residents with the help of our volunteers from the Somerset Hills YMCA Togetherhood Committee. They even had a special visit from a local ice cream truck to kick off holiday weekend today as well! Nate Smith House in Jamaica Plain, MA did some community gardening and residents flagged the property. At Howard House in Brockton, MA, Veteran residents enjoyed food delivery from Brockton's very own Cape Cod Café, as well as cupcakes from another local Brockton favorite, White's Bakery. One resident was thrilled to decorate Howard's front lawn with red, white, and blue flowers to accompany the flags put in place for Memorial Day. #wearepeabody #strongertogether #veteranhousing #MemorialDay #residentevents
The early Memorial Day celebrations continue! ❤️🤍💙 At Rogers Hall in Lowell, MA, the Resident Services Manager, Michelle C., and the Regional Wellness Nurse, Kim M., did a door-to-door BBQ meal delivery for Memorial Day. 45 residents participated and received a hot meal and dessert from Boston Market. Each of them also received an American Flag! At Bedford Green in Bedford, MA, 15 Veteran residents flagged the front lawn for Memorial Day. All who participated were able to take a flag home with them. They sang some patriotic songs, and all saluted the flag in unison. In addition, all residents of Bedford Green received a thoughtful card from the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Throughout the Pandemic, Marcy B., the Resident Services Coordinator at Peter Sanborn Reading, has been connecting with residents on Monday evenings playing "Online Zoom Bingo" with a faithful following of a dozen plus residents each week. Due to the lack of in-person opportunities, Peter Sanborn's High School Intern, Sarah H., has assisted in running this program alongside Marcy. Sarah's fun and youthful personality has created a warm and welcoming environment that has brought joy to participating residents during the challenges of the past year. In addition to Bingo, Sarah also placed friendly calls to a number of residents throughout the past year. With the school year ending, unfortunately yesterday was Sarah’s last Monday Night Bingo with residents. We are thankful for all that Sarah has brought to our residents and wish her well as she sets off to Graduation and then continuing her education at Northeastern University majoring in Health Sciences.
