The children battling cancer endure pain, suffering, and uncommon sacrifice. But one thing they don’t lack is joy. Joy is an intentional behavior that requires daily practice. Just as childhood cancer patients find joy amidst unspeakable obstacles, we can find joy amidst our day-to-day lives. Whether it’s the first whiff of your morning coffee or a breathtaking sunset on your evening drive, it’s not hard to find joy if we take the time to look. During Alex's Month, we challenge you to take a moment to find joy in the simple things. Once you do, tell us about it using #SmileForAlexs. Did you know that families battling childhood cancer are 5x more likely to file for bankruptcy. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the hidden costs are can be overwhelming. Costs like the gas, airfare, parking, and lodging expenses required when traveling for treatment. That’s where we come in. In 2011, Power Home Remodeling joined forces with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to ensure that families won't have to face the battle alone. This year, our goal is to fully fund the travel expenses for 600 families battling childhood cancer for an entire year. Watch this video to learn more about how we are helping these families with their travel expenses - http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMBLR
Today is the kickoff of our annual month-long fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation! Every June, we partner with ALSF to work towards a cure for pediatric cancer and to make a real difference in the lives of the children and families affected by this terrible disease. These kids - these heroes - face so much adversity, yet always have smiles on their faces. Inspired by them, we are going to make an effort to remind ourselves this month of all the little things that make us smile and bring joy. Let’s be more like Alex and all those fighting childhood cancer and #SmileForAlexs! To learn more about our mission and to donate, visit http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM9OU!
By 2020, Millennials will represent half of the global workforce and are already well on their way to becoming the majority. With multiple generations working in today’s workplace, leaders are challenged with a growing generational gap, shifting expectations, and the need to stay on the leading “digital” edge. As a result, more and more senior executives are turning to their younger colleagues for insight and guidance. Check out how we are preparing for a multi-generational workforce: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM9Tu
