For the fifth year in a row, U.S. News collaborated with RTI International, a leading nonprofit research institute, to research and produce the rankings. Academic Magnet High School in South Carolina earned the No. 1 spot nationally, followed by Maine School of Science and Mathematics, which ranked second, and BASIS Scottsdale, which ranked third. Researchers at RTI helped collect and analyze the data behind the rankings using a revamped U.S. News methodology, which analyzes six factors: (1) college readiness, (2) reading and math proficiency, (3) reading and math performance, (4) underserved student performance, (5) college curriculum breadth and (6) graduation rates. Specifically, college readiness measures participation and performance on Advanced Placement® (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) tests. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMvoe

RTI International’s University Collaboration Office (UCO) was established in 2014 to meet growing internal and external demands for university collaborations. With a Board of Governors that includes six representatives from Duke University, NC Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) , North Carolina State University (NCSU), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), and the University of North Carolina System Office (UNC System), RTI International has a long history of collaboration with research universities, extending our capabilities through collaborative project work with faculty, staff and students to better serve our clients and contribute to scholarship. The UCO serves as a catalyst and hub for outreach at the university level, administering the RTI Internship Program and RTI University Scholars Program, as well as seeding research teams.
