Republic Airways had a great time celebrating Pride Month this weekend, Friday at our business resource group's (BRG) rPride's evening mixer, and Saturday at the Indy Pride Parade. We manned the hydration station, handing out thousands of water bottles so participants could stay safe from the heat while we showed them what a culture of fun and action looks like. Under a new strategic workforce development relationship, Leadership in Flight Training (LIFT) Academy will send LIFT graduates to Cape Air, one of the largest commuter airlines in the United States, in a flow program to provide Cape Air a talented pool of aviators to operate its daily passenger flights throughout their four regions in the Midwest, Montana, Caribbean and the Northeast. This relationship enables LIFT Academy and Cape Air to promote workforce development in aviation and provide greater opportunity for pathways to commercial airline careers. Upon completion of their flight training at LIFT Academy, graduates will transition to a First Officer role at Cape Air until they are qualified to upgrade to Captain status. As Cape Air pilots, they will build invaluable flight experience, prior to flowing to Republic Airways.
Next month, beginning June 1, eight LIFT Academy pilots will begin their careers with Republic Airways. Nearly 300 students from all over the United States train in Indianapolis with LIFT and its curriculum designated for airline training. With LIFT’s three flight program options (pilot career pathway, individual certifications, or a collegiate pathway in partnership with Vincennes University), students have a defined path to pursue a pilot position with Republic Airways to begin their career in the airline industry. Students who pursue the career pathway program receive a sponsorship of $15,000 from Republic Airways toward their tuition and have a position reserved at the airline upon successful completion of the program. This June, LIFT's first group of students are ready to make the move they’ve dreamt about for so long—taking off as a commercial airline pilot with Republic Airways.
