Grace Wohlford, SCS Engineers Intern to Join the Team After Graduation! October 22, 2021 H. Grace Wohlford an Intern Engineer at SCS Engineers since May 2020. Grace attends Virginia Tech University, studying Civil Engineering, and will be graduating in 2022. We are thrilled to tell you that Grace has accepted a full-time position with SCS after graduation. Lindsay Evans of SCS Human Resources interviewed Grace to get an inside look at her thoughts about SCS’s Internship Program.

SCS’s Young Professionals Planning Committee collected $3,683 for the NAAEE – North American Association for Environmental Education this summer. SCSers generously contributed toward funding scholarships, research, outreach focusing on K-12 programs, justice, and diversity programs. SCS Corporate matches employee donations for a total of $7,366 raised for NAAEE. Education and association participation play an important part in SCS’s mission to promote a sustainable environment through innovation and the creative application of technology and management strategies.

SCS Engineers Kickball Team Scores Big for Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser June 24, 2021 Staff, family, and friends of SCS Engineers Miami and Boca Raton offices braved the intermittent scorching heat and torrential downpours to reign supreme at the 8th Annual Kick CF Celebrity Kickball Tournament in Palmetto Bay, Florida. After three previous showings that fell short, SCS Ballbarians Team Captain Troy Schick shared that “the timing of the win was a perfect way to safely reconnect as an office after 14 months of remote working. We were able to focus on having fun, which was our key to success!” Highlights included a strong defensive performance by Marc “The Pride of Buffalo” Lefebvre and dazzling base running by Troy Schick who made the highlight reel by stealing second base on UM gridiron standout and 14-year NFL veteran wide receiver Santana Moss.
When Melissa Russo’s boss Phil Carrillo told her he thought she should get her drone pilot license, she thought he was kidding. At the time, she worked on SCS’s Remote Control (RMC) team; selling drone services was a part of her job, but she had not thought of flying these unmanned vehicles herself.
SCS Engineers Expands Comprehensive Landfill Services in Georgia January 27, 2021 AUGUSTA, GA – SCS Engineers now provides the Augusta Environmental Services Department with engineering, environmental and testing, and Construction Management & Quality Assurance Services at the Deans Bridge Road Landfill, in Blythe, Georgia. The Augusta Department of Environmental Services is responsible for the landfill facilities, solid waste management planning for Augusta, and all residential solid waste collections. Additionally, the Department is responsible for the Augusta Brownfield program and other environmental compliance issues. The facility operates under the State of Georgia Environmental Protection Division as a Subtitle D Landfill, accepting up to 1,500 tons per day of waste. Active and closed sections of the landfill comprise approximately 1,177 acres of property. Some additional acreage contains ancillary facilities such as office and maintenance buildings, customer drop off area, sediment ponds, roads, and leachate holding facilities. Richard is a Professional Engineer in 13 states and a Professional Geologist in Illinois and Delaware. He will support SCS clients with their coal combustion residual (CCR) and municipal solid waste projects, including facilities for composting and the safe management of hazardous wastes. Richard D.
