The week of Thanksgiving, nearly 100 Toledo residents were displaced from their homes due to an electrical fire at Oblate Residences—a senior-living apartment complex. Luckily, all the residents evacuated safely, but many needed shelter and care. It isn’t like us not to help, especially when it's in our own backyard, so we chipped in and made a significant financial donation to the American Red Cross of Northern Ohio who helped ensure all residents have a safe place to stay until they can return to their homes. #SSOEcares
SSOE was recently featured in this Building Design+Construction article that highlights innovation as being engineering firms’ “best foot forward” in terms of staying competitive. The article opens with a project example where we saved one of our automotive clients over $250,000 by streamlining data capture, utilizing laser scanning, implementing innovative workflows, and more.
This time five years ago, we were selected to help our client ProMedica take a building that had been vacant for years and turn it into a facility that provides integrated care: access to healthy food, nutritional education, job training opportunities, and more. Residing just outside Toledo’s Central Business District, the ProMedica Ebeid Institute‘s presence addresses the social determinants of health to an underserved area. SSOE is proud to have been involved in the renovations of all four floors, providing full architectural and engineering services and redeveloping a space that would ultimately bring multiple agencies together. Today, the ProMedica Ebeid Institute is a safe place for people to connect with neighbors and service providers—a place just for them. #ThrowbackThursday
Vertical construction has begun on the five-story Monroe Street parking garage in Downtown Huntsville. We partnered with Fuqua & Partners Architects and Turner Construction Company on this $14.4 million project that is key to the redevelopment of the Big Spring Park area. SSOE provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services on the project, which was recently featured in this Huntsville Business Journal article. #SSOEsoutheast

Today, we give thanks: To our valued clients for their business, confidence, and loyalty, to our colleagues for working diligently to make our clients successful, and to our communities for coming together to make a difference and helping those in need. Wishing you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving—from our families to yours.
Season of giving: Last week, Senior Architect Tim Swartz delivered a truckload of school supplies, hygiene products, and food to the Lucas County Children Services on behalf of SSOE. Purchased as part of our United Way Campaign, an annual fundraiser at SSOE for which Tim served as the corporate campaign manager this year, we hope this donation helps Toledo-area children in need, especially with remote schooling in place for many local school districts. #SSOEcares
SSOE recently partnered with Doster Construction Company on this Encompass Health project in Toledo—just a quick drive from our world headquarters. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and data / fire / security engineering, in addition to fire protection services, on this new freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital that offers 40 private patient rooms, a large therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living (ADL) suite, cafeteria, dining room, and more. Our relationship with Encompass Health spans close to three decades and over 500 projects across the U.S. We appreciate the opportunity to add another project to that ever-growing list.
Working well (at home): With employees continuing to work from home, our Mumbai office recently offered a wellness webinar on ergonomics—which is the science of fitting a workplace to the user’s needs. Led by local physiotherapist Dr. Divya Hulavane, the webinar covered topics including posture and auditory ergonomics and equipped employees with two-minute exercises to help alleviate common pain and discomfort. While the original intent was to educate employees on ergonomic safety, it ultimately proved to be a great way for the team to stay connected while being physically apart. #SSOEindia #chooseSSOE
SSOE Group and United Way have been working together to address the pressing needs of the communities where our clients and colleagues live and work by way of our annual corporate-wide campaign. We’re happy to report that we exceeded our goal by more than $35,000 this year. CEO Vince DiPofi made a personal pledge to donate $20 for every employee who made a donation, and he made good on what was ultimately a $5,000 promise. In addition to making financial donations, our employees also committed to 1,821 volunteer hours in 2021. Now more than ever, our communities need our help. With our long legacy of being a strong corporate supporter of the United Way that dates back to our founding, we’re proud to partner with a nonprofit that works with almost 1,200 offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations to pool efforts in fundraising and support. #LiveUnited #SSOEcares
