Coding, testing, documentation, configuration management, certification… embedded software engineering calls on a broad spectrum of skills. The many different aspects of this rapidly evolving line of work offer interesting career opportunities for candidates. Two Safran engineers share their experiences.
A Computer Science Engineer by qualification, Aksha Srivastava is currently a Machine Learning Engineer at Safran Engineering Services India (SESI). She honed her skills in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Data Analytics field after undertaking workshops at Stanford University and joining the world-renowned Next Tech Lab. As the former chair of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter, Aksha co-authored a research paper with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in ‘Image Processing using Deep Learning’. She was also a member of Women Techmakers by Google and a Grace Hopper Student Scholar. She talks about innovation related to Artificial Intelligence.
Safran is stepping up the pace of its digital transformation and adding a professional component to develop employee skills and recruit new talent. Initiatives include a dedicated software app development community, and an in-house program for people interested in retraining as embedded software engineers.
From Factory 4.0 to connected aircraft, the digital transformation of the aerospace sector brings with it a greater risk of cyberattacks and data breaches. To stay protected from these threats, Safran is recruiting cybersecurity personnel.
