For the month of January, we are shining the spotlight on Patient Engagement Specialist, Kyle McKnight. Kyle joined Shields in August 2022 and was recently promoted to a senior role. He consistently demonstrates kindness, compassion, and a positive attitude in all patient interactions. Kyle prioritizes patient care, efficiently manages his high-volume clinics with ease, and readily assists his team members. Today we shared with our team that John Lucey, Shields Health Solutions’ co-founder and Chief Executive Officer has decided to transition out of his day-to-day responsibilities at Shields and into an advisory role. This change will allow him to, after 12 years, spend more time with his family and pursue additional opportunities that he is passionate about—building companies and exploring transformative ways to improve healthcare—while also continuing to support our leadership team and partners. We’re excited to announce that Stephen West, currently President of Shields, will be appointed CEO. Stephen has held various leadership roles at Shields since 2017 and has been President of the company since 2022. He has been central to our strategic direction and operational initiatives, ensuring that the highest level of integrated care is delivered consistently across each of our partners. He’ll continue to lead our business with the kindness, compassion, integrity and a growth-mindset that has made our culture so special and unique. In 2012, John founded Shields alongside Jack Shields. Since then, he developed our industry-leading integrated care model, set the strategic vision and scaled the business model to impact more than 1 million specialty patients. Our clinical care model is proven to lower total cost of care by 13% and its nationwide footprint includes nearly 80 health systems and 900 hospitals across nearly 45 states.

For the month of July, we are shining the spotlight on our Regional Patient Advocate Jessica Reyes! Jess joined the Engagement Center team at the end of 2022 and has been an incredible addition. She seamlessly adapted to Shields' fast pace, treating every patient interaction with kindness and care. Her understanding of the positive impact she has on patients is truly remarkable. Jess's adaptability extends to enhancing communication among teams and patients. Her open and honest approach, coupled with a positive attitude, propels her towards personal and team goals. Last week we were proud to have six Shields employees present their research posters at ASHP's summer meeting!
The implementation team spent time together planning out our goals for for the rest of 2023. We were graciously welcomed in Phoenix by Charles DeYoung (Thank you Chuck, we appreciated the swag, snacks and drinks!). In between the working, we joined some friends and competed at the Game Show Battle rooms, where Team Starfish was victorious!
