Walgreens Boots Alliance became a 71 percent owner of Shields by investing nearly a billion dollars to support the continued growth and expansion of our specialty pharmacy platform. It is certainly a testament to our care model, our mission, and the hard work done by every one of you. There were a lot of questions that came in that I hope we answered. The biggest takeaway was and still is that we remain the same. We are still Shields and we will continue to operate as we have been with no changes in your day-to-day functions, your manager or your leadership. "We are the culture." That is what Annie Maloney said in our Town Hall the day after the announcement. It resonated with me then, and it still does today. We are who we are because of all of you, the work that you do and the kindness you show to each other and our patients. As long as we have you, your passion and your involvement... our culture will not change.
As we continue to grow our business, employee base and care model to serve more partners and patients across the country, we’re also expanding our leadership team. We’re excited to welcome three new leaders to Shields who will bring additional focus on financial and operational rigor; branding, value prop and communications; and partner and business growth, helping us bring better care to more patients, nation-wide. Ashley Koch, CPA joins Shields as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reporting to Lee. Ashley has a proven track record of driving financial and operational performance in healthcare. She has experience leading business transformations including financial and organizational turnarounds, merger integrations and systems implementations. Ashley has spent her career in private equity or PE backed companies where she’s been integral in driving value creation and building finance organizations. She joins Shields from Steward Medical Group (SMG) where she was the Chief Financial Officer and a key member of the leadership team, leading a team of over 300 people.
