#BlackHistoryMonth is here and we’re honoring the contributions and achievements of Black Leaders throughout U.S. history! It’s also a time to recognize our Spirit Leaders who help us reach new heights every day. According to Olu, flying was his destiny. "I fell in love with aviation as a child. Seriously! My earliest memories were on a plane. My dad, now retired, is a pilot too. He used to take me into the flight deck and show me all the cool buttons and lights. I guess my father rubbed off on me, because with any opportunity I too show off the flight deck to all future aviators. With Spirit, it’s about far more than just flying. It’s about opportunity and time, and I take pride in being a leader and a mentor at work and in the community. Through diverse actions, I serve as an example to my fellow future aviators that they too can achieve their dreams. Well, because representation matters. So please, remember this, Planes take off into the wind. So, whatever you think may be a setback, is actually a setup for your success story." – Olusayo Lawal, Captain 👨✈️✈

We're proud to be the title Sponsor of the YMCA of South Florida's 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Inspirational Breakfast. Our Black Council members and leadership were able to hear and learn from Michelle Duster, author, professor, and granddaughter of civil rights leader Ida B. Wells. We were also proud to present the Spirit of Community Award to honor the work of Sheri Brown Grosvenor, MSHRD, who has served as the Vice President of Community Impact for the Community Foundation of Broward for over 15 years.
